Types of commonly used preparations for applied therapy

(1) powder. Powder is the most basic dosage form in acupoint application. According to the prescription of drug selection based on syndrome differentiation and treatment, the drugs were ground into very fine powder and sieved with 80 ~ 100 mesh. The medicinal powder can be directly applied to acupoints or mixed with water and other solvents to form balls, and flowers can be fixed by gauze and adhesive tape, or the medicinal powder can be spread in the middle of ordinary black plaster and applied to acupoints.

The preparation method of the powder is simple. The dosage can be changed at will, and the medicine can be added and subtracted, with high stability and convenient storage. Because the medicine is crushed, the contact surface is larger and the irritation is enhanced, so it is easy to beat and the curative effect is rapid.

(2) paste. It refers to mixing powder with auxiliary materials, such as wine, vinegar, ginger juice, egg white, etc. Make a paste and apply it to the acupoints. Covered with sterile gauze and fixed with adhesive tape. The ointment can make the drug release slowly, prolong the efficacy and reduce the toxicity. Combined with the function of excipient itself, the curative effect can be improved.

(3) ointment. There are two kinds of plaster and ointment, and their preparation methods are different. The preparation method of the plaster is to soak the medicine in vegetable oil for 1-2 days, heat and fry, filter, heat and boil the medicine oil until it drops into beads, add bell powder or plumbum preparatium to collect the plaster, and apply it to acupoints. The plaster is easy to store, durable and simple to use.

The preparation method of the ointment is to pulverize the medicine into powder, sieve it, add vinegar or wine, heat it in a wok, boil it into paste, apply it to acupoints, and change the medicine regularly. Appropriate amount of medicinal powder can also be added into onion juice, ginger juice, honey, vaseline, etc. Make into ointment and apply it on acupoints. Light tone has strong permeability and quick drug action. It has adhesiveness and expansibility.

(4) pills. It is a spherical solid dosage form prepared by grinding medicine into fine powder and blending with honey, water or rice paste, wine and vinegar. Pill application generally chooses small pills. Pills are also slow, which can make drugs take effect slowly and last for a long time. Pills are easy to store and use.

(5) cake agent. The preparation method comprises pulverizing the medicine, sieving, adding appropriate amount of flour, uniformly mixing, pressing into cakes, steaming in a cage for 30 minutes, cooling slightly, and applying to acupoints. Some medicines are sticky and can be directly pounded into cakes. The size and weight should depend on the severity of the disease and the application site.

(6) lozenges: after the medicine is crushed and sieved, a proper amount of water and batter are added to make lozenges and dried. When in use, the lozenge is ground with water or vinegar, and then applied to acupoints. This dosage form is mostly used to treat steamed bread diseases, which can reduce the trouble of preparation and is convenient for application at any time.
