What is the meaning of Walking the West Mouth?
The Xikou in Going West means the mouth outside the northern part of the Great Wall.
Xikou, in a narrow sense, refers to the mouths north of the Great Wall, including the Killing Tiger's Mouth in Shanxi; Fugu's Mouth in Shaanxi; and Dushi's Mouth in Hebei, the intersection of the northern Jin, northern Shaanxi, and northern Hebei people who went to the west.
Xikou was the place where Jin merchants and Shaanxi merchants traded with Inner Mongolia and Outer Mongolia out of the Great Wall, so the main group of people who traveled to Xikou included Jinbei people, Shaanxi people, and Hebei people. The latter Xikou refers in general to the places in Inner and Outer Mongolia north of the Great Wall where they engaged in agriculture and commodity trading, including Shenmukou in northern Shaanxi, Zhangjiakou in northern Hebei, and the city of Guihua.
Social Value of Going to the West:
"Going to the West" is a bitter history of migration, a history of hard struggle and entrepreneurship. Batch after batch of immigrants left their homes and went north to the Mongolian region outside the mouth, and worked hard to develop the Inner Mongolia region.
Along with the "go west" migration process, the mouth of the Inner Mongolia region to the traditional single nomadic society evolved into the flag county double, pastoral farming and diversified society. In this evolutionary process, as the main body of the immigrants in Shanxi made a great contribution.
Since the immigrants from Shanxi accounted for the vast majority of immigrants, the local immigrant culture was characterized by the Jin culture, which could also be said to be an extension of the Jin culture in the region.
The movement of people has led to the spread of culture, which in turn has brought regions closer together and strengthened their sense of identity. This wave of immigration, "Go West", greatly promoted the exchange between the central and western regions of Inner Mongolia and the mainland, further enhanced the ethnic feelings between the Mongols and the Han Chinese, and had a certain positive impact on the prosperity and stability of our multi-ethnic country.
