Ethnic minority games are held every few years.

The National Minority Traditional Sports Meeting is a regular event approved by the State Council and determined by the State Sports Commission and the State Ethnic Affairs Commission. It is held every four years. This competition is to promote the development and inheritance of traditional sports of ethnic minorities and show the unique sports culture of all ethnic groups. The four-year cycle helps to provide sufficient preparation and participation time for all ethnic groups, and also helps to ensure the high quality and smooth hosting of the games.
