What kind of art style is postmodernism?
Postmodern Art ----- Postmodernism (postmodernism) is an art movement that took place in the 1970s and became popular in Europe and the United States in the 1980s and 1990s. The watershed between modern art and postmodern art was the 1968 "May Storm" in France. Today's postmodernism has had a huge impact on philosophy, art, culture, medicine and architecture, and its main purpose is to reject the basic premise of modernity and its norms. In postmodernist art, this rejection indicates a rejection of the autonomous value of modern art as a divided cultural field, and a rejection of the principles of modern art's formal limitations and ideological tendencies, which in essence transcends subjective expressionism and honors the return of nature to nature. Post-philosophy (after philosophy) gradually became a system in the 1980s, and its proposition is to oppose the subject-object dichotomy, emphasize the harmony between human beings and nature, and construct a global village in which things and I are intertwined. The idea of the unity of man and the world and the integration of things is a transcendence after the baptism of the traditional subject-object relationship in the West for thousands of years. Obviously, the theoretical system of post-philosophy supports the further development of postmodern art. The spirit of breaking through all taboos and boundaries and pursuing freedom expressed in the artistic creation of postmodern art is its basic idea. This is also a starting point for its criticism of modern art, which is dissatisfied with the modern art of form, system, concept and other constraints, and unwilling to stagnate in artistic creation and innovation, which is also known as the "uncertainty" of postmodern art. This is what postmodern art calls "uncertainty". It also reflects the spirit of endless subversion of tradition in postmodern art, and shows the irresistible power of art to subvert the old culture. The purpose of postmodern art is not to reject traditional art, but to seek new art and great freedom without any restriction, which is a process of deconstruction first and then construction. Post-modern art is not a stylistic concept, it can be said to be the transcendence of modern art, because its philosophical concept has undergone a fundamental change. It explores new ways of expression, searching for the feeling of something unrepresentable and then revealing the invisible, exploring art in philosophical language (searching for absence), deconstructing first and then reconstructing. Some Western scholars consider Cézanne to be the father of modern art and Duchamp to be the founder of postmodern art. Pollock was the initiator of postmodern art. Pollock led art back to the state of spontaneity and naturalness, indeed, the first human artistic activities are spontaneous and innocent natural, without specialized training, there is no division of artists' profession, art has become a professional work, there are standards about art, such as the classical "Six Methods" of Chinese painting, Xu Beihong engaged in the "New Seven Methods" and so on. Obviously, this kind of division of labor and standards are shackles that hinder the development of sound human nature. Now in the case of social conditions have changed, but also these fixed standards as the supreme law to be followed by the people, obviously unreasonable. Duchamp's greatest revelation to future generations is a seemingly funny but actually quite profound thought, he ridiculed the people in the field of culture and art of constraints and craftsmanship, so as to call for the arrival of a new era rich in the spirit of free creativity. Duchamp implied that the value of art lies in thought, and with thought, any material product can become a work of art. This kind of thinking which elevates the creation of art to the philosophical level objectively eliminates the discipline of art in the traditional sense, and implies the theoretical judgment that the art and the history of art are about to end. Recently, some people in China have also shouted that art is dead. However, I believe that human artistic wisdom is far from being over, and that the negation of the old will inevitably lead to the creation of the new, which is the pursuit of human social progress. The process art of the middle and end of the last century has had a significant impact on the excess of modern art to postmodern art. Initially, it came from Pollock and de Kooning's accidental dripping and splashing of paint in their creations. Although it was a breakthrough in technique, it had a great influence on postmodern art in terms of artistic concept. Process art believes that the process of creating art is more important than prior conception, and that it is better to experience the passage of time than to watch static and lasting objects, trying to express the transient existence (being) that passes in an instant, and process art mostly uses soft pigments that are easy to reflect the change of time. Pollock used Chinese ink and egg whites to create many of his works in his middle and late art. Post-structuralism (post-struction) as a trend of thought, emerged in France and Northern Europe and flourished in the United States, this trend of thought is in the process of the development of the structuralist trend of thought reproduced. Derrida is the main figure of post-structuralism, and the target of his attack is structuralism and "logocentrism". Since the word "logos" means both "language" and "thought", traditional Western philosophy considers thought and language to be identical. Derrida, on the other hand, opposed the consistency of language and thought, and proposed the philosophical term "deconstruction". Deconstruction (Deconstruction) word has the meaning of analysis, decomposition, disintegration, disappearance, through the deconstruction to destroy the structuralism of the self-contained complete system, subvert the "logocentric" whole world, so there are post-structuralism in our country is also translated into deconstructionism. "De-differentiation" is an important contribution of post-structuralism, which opposes the dichotomy of modernism and metaphysical "logocentrism". Post-structuralism believes that there is no differentiation and opposition between matter and spirit, subject and object, energy and reference, body and soul, phenomenon and essence, presence and absence, thus breaking the tradition of metaphysics and the dualistic thinking of modernism. Post-structuralism's "de-differentiation" is a way of transcending oneself, which coincides with the discussion and exploration of Zen. Looking at modern art and postmodern art, we find that the aesthetic value and concept of philosophy have undergone a fundamental change. The centuries-old controversy over whether beauty exists in the "presence" or in the "absence" is gradually being recognized. The work of an artist who is able to transcend presence, who is rich in imagination and fanciful hope, is more evocative and sublime. Hope is not an empty dream, hope always tries to transform what is not yet real, what is not visible into real existence, and the hidden existence into existence, and this process of transformation is the labor and pursuit of the postmodern artist. The artist's poetic realm does not demand a response from reality; its creation brings hope to art and visual aesthetics. This hope means breaking through the boundaries, means struggling out of the established framework of reality, hope is the conversion of pain and happiness, darkness and light, and a bloody price must be paid to realize this conversion. It has only been 10 years since the concepts and books related to postmodernism entered China. As the most important cultural trend in the contemporary West, we should have a comprehensive understanding of it and analyze and study it, and should no longer adopt a simplistic approach to such an exceptionally complex and profound ideological movement as we did with pragmatism and existentialism. After the 85th wave in China, the country has just learned about modern art, and has yet to fully understand modern art, and then came post-modern art, obviously in the academic world on the post-modern and modernity of the dispute has just opened, far from unfolding. As a matter of fact, certain ideas of postmodernism have already sounded the alarm for our mistakes in the process of modernization. For half a century, the subject-object dichotomy philosophy has dominated our generations, and the backlash against the development of the country and the nation is obvious to all who are knowledgeable. Postmodernism beyond the subject-object dichotomy of thought is in fact precisely our Taoist thought and the realm of Zen, which is recognized by contemporary European and American philosophers, this may be a coincidence may be reincarnation.
