Did Spartans and Athenians in ancient Greece have different costumes?

On the whole, yes. In the fifth century BC, both Athens and Sparta were in their heyday, and the typical clothing style of Sparta was usually much more conservative than that of Athens.

In the fifth century BC, Spartan women usually wore an old-fashioned sleeveless casual dress, made of heavy wool and fixed on their shoulders with two long pins. Peplos is made of a rectangular piece of cloth, and the top quarter is folded to hang on the body. According to the standards of ancient Greece, the short skirt of Sparta Pepoulos is quite short, because the hem of the skirt only reaches the ankle.

At the same time, in the 5th century BC, Athenian women usually wore ionaginchiton clothing, which was a new type of clothing, made of lighter materials and fixed on their shoulders and upper arms with a series of small pins. Ionian tortoises grow to the floor and usually have short sleeves, which means that they cover more skin than peplos. Ironically, however, it also hugs the body tightly, exposing most of the body below, which means that although it covers more skin, it actually exposes more. Athenian women often wear an ordinary cloth as a cloak on their stone tiles.

Spartan men's fashion is equally conservative. In the fifth century BC, Spartan men usually wore ancient tunics and fixed them on their left shoulders with pins. The rope is tied around the waist with a belt up to the knee. Spartan men are equally conservative in their hairstyles; Spartan men usually have long braids, just like ancient men.
