Is the cymbal a western musical instrument or a national musical instrument in China?
Cymbals are neither a western musical instrument nor a national musical instrument in China. They originated in West Asia, first in Egypt and Syria, and then in ancient countries such as Persia and Rome. In the East, it first appeared in India, and then in Central Asia. According to SHEN WOO, the Northern Emperor, cymbals were introduced into the Central Plains of China with Tianzhu music around 350 AD. As cymbals spread to the east and west, they gradually appeared in western bands and China folk bands.
