What are the characteristics of Dai folk houses?
In Yunnan, Dai folk houses are the most distinctive folk houses. Dai people live in the southwest of Yunnan, especially Xishuangbanna. The climate in this area is hot and humid (subtropical climate), with only two seasons: rainy season and dry season. It is rainy season from May to 10 every year, and it rains almost every day during this period, so their houses should be waterproof and moistureproof. So it is generally made into a pointed roof, and the house is elevated into a building (moisture-proof). Most Dai folk houses have balconies or platforms upstairs. This kind of building is generally made of bamboo, so it is called Dai Bamboo Building, and its scientific name is "dry diaphragm type"
