Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) is a branch of traditional medicine in the medical system all over the world. It has a history of several thousand years, including Chinese medicine of Han nationality in China, Japanese medicine, oriental medicine on the Korean peninsula (that is, Korean medicine today and Korean medicine in Korea) and Tibetan medicine, Mongolian medicine and Korean medicine in Chinese mainland.

In a narrow sense, it refers to Chinese medicine. Based on the theory of Yin-Yang and Five Elements in China's philosophy, TCM probes into the etiology, nature and location of diseases, analyzes the changes of pathogenesis, viscera, meridians, joints, qi, blood and body fluids, and judges the rise and fall of pathogenic factors through inspection, sniffing, questioning, palpation and four diagnoses.

Based on the principle of syndrome differentiation and treatment, the treatment methods of "sweating, vomiting, purgation, harmony, warming, clearing away heat, tonifying and eliminating" are formulated, and various treatment methods such as traditional Chinese medicine, acupuncture, massage, cupping, scraping, qigong, dietotherapy and sound therapy are used to achieve the harmony of yin and yang and rehabilitation of the human body. Traditional Chinese medicine has a complete theoretical system, and its uniqueness lies in the holistic view of harmony between man and nature and its syndrome differentiation and treatment.
