Taijiquan is a type of Chinese martial arts, categorized as an internal martial art.

The name of taijiquan was established during the Wanli period of the Ming Dynasty (the exact year and month are not known), when a Shanxi martial artist, Wang Zongyue, authored the Treatise on Taijiquan. Yang Lu Chan (1800 ~ 1873), promoted the rapid popularization and dissemination of taijiquan in the country, so that taijiquan is widely known. 1949, by the National Sports Commission, the unified adaptation as a physical fitness gymnastic sports, performances, sports competitions. After China's reform and opening up, it was partially restored to its original form; thus, it was subdivided into taijiquan for martial arts, taijiquan for gymnastic sports and taiji push hands.

There are many traditional Taijiquan schools, and the common Taijiquan schools are Chen, Yang, Wu, Wu, Sun, Zhao Bao, Wudang and so on, and each school has its own inheritance relationship and draws on each other, but also has its own characteristics, which is a state of blossoming.
