Xie Tiancheng

Xie Tiancheng is an all-round calligrapher and painter. He has performed well in all fields of calligraphy, oil painting, and Chinese painting (figures, landscapes, flowers and birds). Basic Introduction

Xie Tiancheng, born in November 1950, a native of Xinyi County, Maoming City, Guangdong Province, is an all-around calligrapher and painter. He is very outstanding in all fields of calligraphy, oil painting and Chinese painting (figure, landscape, flowers and birds). His works were successfully selected by the world's art auction giant, Sotheby's New York, and started with a reserve price of thirty thousand dollars. Although he has been living abroad for a long time, many of his works have also made frequent appearances in our country's auction houses, and all of them have been collected by some collectors at a good price. His works have been affirmed by Chinese painting and calligraphy circles and collectors, who unanimously agree that Mr. Xie Tiansheng's works have blended the essence of ancient and modern Chinese and Western paintings, and have promoted the exchange and development of Chinese and Western painting culture. Painting Style

He is the favorite disciple of the master painter Mr. Liu Haisu, he inherited Liu's wild and unrestrained style of painting, and created his own style of vertical ink painting and figure painting. 1995, Xie Tiancheng resided in the U.S. and began his life in the Western painting world. He boldly combines Chinese ink, paint, rice paper, abstract consciousness and modernist color sensibility, rubbing Western painting concepts and techniques into his Chinese paintings, greatly enriching the expressive effect of Chinese paintings. He has created a number of works with Tibetan Buddhism as the theme of profound meaning, the thick texture of the picture highlights the effect of light and dark of Western painting, the line processing is unique, the technique is pure and sophisticated and very personalized, reflecting his profound calligraphy and painting skills.

Life

Born in November 1950, Xinyi County, Guangdong Province, he was a keen lover of art since his childhood, and at the age of 7, he practiced calligraphy, painting and carving, and at the age of 13, he received formal training in sketching, and at the age of 17, he was admitted to the secondary school of the Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts.

Graduated from Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts in 1968, he exhibited his paintings in Guangzhou in 1982, and his works were appreciated by art master Liu Haisu, who invited him to study Chinese and Western painting in Huangshan Mountain, and he was accepted as a disciple by Liu Haisu.

In 1983, Hong Kong (Ta Kung Pao) introduced Chinese cultural celebrities such as Feng Youlan, Zong Baihua, Wang Li, Qigong, Xie Tiancheng, and in 1983, the national magazine "Fine Arts" published the ink scroll "Li River Smoke and Rain", and the "People's Daily" published the ink scroll "Smoke and Rain on the River and Mountain".

Academic exchanges

In 1986, at the invitation of Mr. Katagiri Shiraten, director of the South Painting Institute in Tokyo, Japan, he went to Tokyo, Japan, for art exchanges, and his works were appreciated and collected by the Japanese painting giants Higashiyama Kuiyi and Hirasanov.

In 1987, he was invited by Mr. Coleman, the director of New Orleans Academy of Fine Arts to hold a painting exhibition in the United States, and went to New York, Boston, San Francisco, and Washington, D.C., for art exchanges, and he was appointed as an honorary professor of art by the New Orleans Academy of Fine Arts. Shanghai People's Fine Arts Publishing House publishes an annual exhibition of works by Chinese famous artists Li Keran, Bai Xueshi, Liang Shunian, Zhang Bu, and Xie Tiancheng; holds a painting exhibition in Shanghai, where Shen Roujian, chairman of the Shanghai Fine Arts Association, Cheng Shifa, a famous painter, and Han Tianheng, a seal carver, attend the closing ceremony. Artistic Achievements

In 1988, Xie Tiancheng accompanied Master Liu Haisu to Huangshan Mountain, and prepared for the establishment of "Li River Painting and Calligraphy Institute" with Master Liu Haisu. In December of the same year, the "Li River Painting and Calligraphy Institute" was established, and Xie Tiancheng became the president.

In 1989, Xie Tiancheng collaborated with James, an American modernist painter, and the newsletter of Chinese artists reported that this collaboration "opened up a new path for the fusion of Chinese and Western painting". He went to Hong Kong to meet with Master Liu Haisu, who wrote a letter to the French master Zao Wou-ki, introducing Tiancheng to meet and exchange ideas with Zao Wou-ki in Paris. In the same year, he held a painting exhibition in Taiwan, and the Taiwan Artist featured Xie Tiancheng's art. The People's Daily reported the news of the exhibition. Taiwan Times featured the exhibition.

In 1990, Xie Tiansheng was selected to be included in the Dictionary of Contemporary Chinese Painters; participated in the group exhibition of Chinese paintings at the Greenwich Museum in England; his works were appreciated by Francis Bacon, the world's master of painting; participated in the exhibition of paintings by famous painters of the Song Dynasty, the Ming Dynasty and the Qing Dynasty in the Republic of China, which was featured in the Taiwan's The Artist. Artistic exchanges with Hu Nianyi, a famous painter in Taiwan.

In 1991, exchanged and cooperated paintings with the famous Malaysian painter Tse Tim Sung. Participated in the painting and calligraphy exhibition of Chinese cultural celebrities sponsored by Asian Cultural Exchange Center. In the same year, he went to Macao to hold a painting exhibition, and his art was featured in Macao Daily News and Macao Television.

In 1992, he participated in the Tokyo International Art Annual Exhibition, with participants including Xie Tiansheng, Matisse, Monet, Ding Shaoguang and Chen Yifei. People's Daily published his ink landscape painting "Hazy Autumn Rhythm"; received by the Speaker of Singapore Parliament, Mr. Tan Shu Kwan. Invited by the Asia-Pacific Museum in Los Angeles, USA to hold a successful exhibition, was appointed as the director of the U.S.-China Association for the Promotion of Cultural and Artistic Exchanges.

In 1997, Xie Tiancheng was invited by the Governor of Hawaii, Mr. Gonuda, to visit the state of Hawaii, and his works were collected by the state government. And asked Xie Tiancheng to make a painting in the governor's name to present to President Jiang Zemin who will visit Hawaii.
