Introduction to channel estimation

The so-called channel estimation is the process of estimating the model parameters of an assumed channel model from the received data. If the channel is linear, then channel estimation is the estimation of the impulse response of the system. It is important to emphasize that channel estimation is a mathematical representation of the channel's effect on the input signal, and "good" channel estimation is an estimation algorithm that minimizes some estimation error.
