The Influence of Political System on China Traditional Culture

The social and political environment in which the patriarchal clan system prevailed and the monarchy system was highly developed in ancient China had many influences on the traditional culture of China, mainly in the following three aspects:

(1) The social and political structural features of patriarchal clan system have promoted the formation of traditional cultural ethics paradigm in China. Its positive influence is manifested in the promotion of interpersonal relationships: people live on things, treat others with self-denial, worry about the world first, and enjoy the world later. Pay attention to the cultivation of healthy personality and national spirit of self-improvement. The negative influence is the formation of blind xenophobia and other concepts, which hinders the healthy development of China culture.

(2) The full development of autocratic system promotes the formation of political paradigm of China traditional culture. Positive influence is the source of great national cohesion. Its negative influence is to cultivate and strengthen the mentality of China people who are seriously superstitious about rights and obey authority.

(3) The combination of patriarchal clan system and autocratic system is manifested in the combination of Confucianism and Legalism in thought and the formation of the mentality of "being sage inside and king outside" in culture. Its positive influence is: a culture linked by emotion makes the whole society warm, communicates political relations and family relations, and advocates the life ideal and value pursuit of self-cultivation, keeping the family in order, governing the country and leveling the world. Its negative effects are: the blood relationship is innate, so the hierarchy is doomed, which leads to the nation's lack of progress and complacency and strengthens the bureaucratic political system of absolute monarchy.
