The Institute of Physical Education of Henan University, formerly the Department of Physical Education of Henan University, was founded in 1960. It is the earliest physical education undergraduate major in colleges and universities in Henan Province, and now it is the construction unit of research-oriented college of Henan University. There are 93 faculty members in the college, including 2 professors 1 person, 40 associate professors, 2 university distinguished professor, 2 experts enjoying special allowance from the State Council1person, 2 provincial excellent experts, 5 doctoral supervisors and 5 international and national judges1person. There are 23 doctors and doctors, and all young teachers under 40 years old have master's degree or above (including studying). Physical education is a first-class key discipline in Henan province, a national specialty, and national traditional sports is a provincial specialty. It has a doctoral degree authorization point in physical education and training and a master's degree authorization point in physical education. It is the only unit in Henan Province that is qualified to recruit doctoral students majoring in physical education. It has 1 national excellent courses and 3 provincial excellent courses, won 2 second prizes for national teaching achievements, and has an excellent teaching team at the provincial level. The training base for physical education teachers of the Ministry of Education, the key research base of sports social sciences of the State General Administration of Sport, the laboratories of universities with distinctive advantages jointly built by the central and local governments, and the academic research base of the Sports Culture Development Center of the State General Administration of Sport have been established. Over the past half century, with the efforts of several generations, the physical education discipline of Henan University ranks among the top universities in Henan Province, and ranks 1 1 in the national physical education discipline ranking published by the degree center of the Ministry of Education in 2009.
