The most obvious difference between electric vehicle and traditional vehicle chassis is that the traditional vehicle chassis consists of four parts: transmission system, driving system, steering system and braking system. The function of the chassis is to support and install the automobile engine, its parts and assemblies, form the overall shape of the automobile, accept the power of the engine to make the automobile move, and ensure the normal running.

The basic structure of electric vehicle can be divided into three subsystems, namely, main energy system (power source), electric drive system and energy management system.

The electric drive system consists of an electric control system, a motor, a mechanical transmission system and a driving wheel. For traditional cars, the transmission is an essential component, and what type of transmission is mainly considered when designing. But for electric cars, it is different. Because the torque and speed of the driving motor can be completely controlled by the electronic controller, there are many different options for the design of the transmission system. Both the traditional variable speed gearbox and the electronic driver can be used to control the direct speed change of the motor. Which scheme should be adopted mainly depends on the energy and economy of electric vehicles, and also involves the design of motors and controllers.

In order to improve the transmission efficiency of electric vehicles, people have developed a two-speed or three-speed automatic transmission bridge integrating motor and variable speed transmission for electric vehicles. The advanced two-speed motor/multi-speed transmission bridge completely integrates the variable speed gear set and the high-speed asynchronous motor, and is directly installed on the driving shaft of the driving wheel of the electric vehicle, forming a transmission system with light weight, small volume, high efficiency, compact structure and low cost.
