Shanwei Spring Festival Folk Custom
On the second day of the first month: each family only worships ancestors to eat meat, commonly known as "shame". On this day, the married daughter took her husband's belt back to her family to "see her off", and the mother treated her children very well, calling it "the son-in-law's duty".
"The first day is early, the second day is early, and the third day is sleepy and full." On the third day of the first month, "the gods descended to earth."
The fourth day of the first month: "serial opening" (that is, annual leave).
The fifth day of the first month: commonly known as "after the fifth day, everyone looks for homework", people begin to work, produce and work one after another.
On the seventh day of the first month: every household eats "seven kinds of vegetables", which means: mustard, Chinese cabbage, celery, garlic, spring vegetables, leeks, kale and other vegetables are cooked together, "New (celery) spring hair (garlic) is rich (cabbage), and long (leek) is suitable for everyone (mustard).
On the ninth day of the first month: "Heaven and earth are born", people prepare fragrant red candles, fast fruits and sweet cakes to worship heaven and earth, and pray that God will bless the people and keep the family safe. There are also many taboos similar to the first day of the first month.
On the 13th day of the first month: "People turn on the lights" and eat "light tea".
On the fifteenth day of the first month: Lantern Festival, fireworks are set off, and rural children drag "lights free". There are art parades, calligraphy and painting exhibitions, solve riddles on the lanterns and so on.
