"Light as a cicada wings white as snow, shaking like a fine silk does not hear" describes the Xuan paper, in September 2009, the traditional production techniques of Xuan paper on the list of intangible cultural heritage of mankind.
Xuan paper is a specialty of Jing County, Xuancheng City, Anhui Province, and a National Geographical Indication product. Jing County is located in the southern edge of the mid-latitude, according to the classification of meteorological indicators, belongs to the north subtropical, subtropical monsoon humid climate.
During the Tianbao period of the Tang Dynasty, among the tributes shipped from all over the country to Chang'an, the capital city, Xuancheng County had "paper, pens" and other tributes in its ships, which indicated that Xuancheng County had already been producing paper and pens. Xuan paper is China's unique handicrafts, with a tough texture, clean as jade, not moth, not rot, ink rhyme of the characteristics of the change, enjoying the "thousand years of life paper" reputation, known as the "national treasure".

Provenance of Xuanpaper
Xuanpaper first appeared in the Tang Dynasty, originated in the Tang Dynasty, produced in Xuancheng, Anhui Province. Its production process and materials are unique, with green sandalwood bark and straw as raw materials, processed through a number of procedures. Xuan paper is characterized by its lightness, softness, good water absorption, durability and unique texture, making it a traditional paper for calligraphy and painting and one of the treasures of Chinese culture.
Anhui is one of the main production areas of Chinese Xuan paper, among which the Xuan paper of Jing County is the most famous. Jing County is the birthplace of Chinese rice paper, with a long history and cultural heritage. The production process of Xuan paper in Jingxian is tedious and complicated, requiring multiple procedures and handwork to complete, making it more expensive but of excellent quality. Besides Anhui, Xuan paper is also produced and sold in Zhejiang, Jiangsu and Sichuan.
Xuan paper has a strong regional character, its production process and material sources are closely related to the local natural environment and cultural background. With the development of the times, Xuan paper has gradually come to the world stage and become one of the representatives of traditional Chinese culture, which has been listed as a national intangible cultural heritage.
