Are those who worship God Buddhists?
Worship the Buddha as a god, hoping that the Buddha can protect himself from disaster like a god. Although it has some merits, it still belongs to the level of folk belief.
In the concept of Buddhism, although the gods in the world have great ability and can even share happiness with others, they still belong to ordinary people, and they are also beings circulating in samsara. They are not much different from ordinary human beings, and they are not the objects to rely on on on the road of liberation. And arhat, Jue Yuan, Buddha all cut off their troubles completely, put out their pain and never reincarnate. If Buddhist disciples want to be happy from suffering, they can only rely on their mentor Buddha, the Buddha's liberation method and the holy monks who practice Buddhism.
Therefore, worshipping only the gods is not Buddhism, but some kind of folk belief.
