The main hall of Tiananmen Gate House is a double-eaved, mountain-leaning roof, with a main ridge. At both ends of the main ridge, there are a pair of gorgeous dragon-shaped glass ornaments, which are called dragon kisses (also called big kisses or main kisses), and there are eight vertical ridges. There is a dragon kiss at the top of each vertical ridge, so it is said that "nine ridges seal ten dragons".
There are ten lifelike immortal beasts on each of the eight vertical ridges. The first one is "immortal riding a chicken", followed by nine different kinds of beasts, such as dragon, phoenix, lion, Tianma, hippocampus, sister-in-law, gambling on fish, riding a dog and bullfighting.
