According to Article 8 of the Ten Precepts of Theravada Buddhist novices, decorations are inappropriate for monks.

8. Wearing flower wreaths, fragrances, and incense for reasons of decoration and decoration

Aromatic (gandha) - all other types of incense such as powders and cigarettes.

All these sesame oils and powders are illegal if they are applied for the purpose of cosmetics and decoration; but it is allowed if they are used as medicine.

This rule also includes not wearing earrings, necklaces, rings, bracelets, beads, watches and other accessories. At the same time, do not apply various sesame oils, perfumes, powders, spices, cosmetics, etc. to make yourself attractive.

In addition, according to the precepts of Theravada Buddhism, monks must be covered with cassocks when in crowds or in the market; only in the countryside or in monasteries can they expose their right shoulder. Therefore, the clothing of Buddha statues must comply with the requirements of the above precepts.
