⑵ The heat capacity decreases, and the largest heat capacity in the battery is water. After losing water, the heat capacity of the battery is greatly reduced, and the generated heat makes the battery temperature rise rapidly.
⑶ Because the superfine glass fiber separator in the battery shrinks after losing water, the adhesion between it and the positive and negative plates becomes worse, the internal resistance increases, and the calorific value increases when charging and discharging. After the above process, the heat generated inside the battery can only be dissipated through the battery tank. If the heat dissipation is less than the calorific value, the temperature will rise.
With the increase of temperature, the overpotential of gas evolution decreases and the gas evolution rate increases. A large amount of oxidation of the positive electrode passes through the "channel" and reacts on the surface of the negative electrode, releasing a large amount of heat, causing the temperature to rise rapidly, forming a vicious circle, which is called "thermal runaway".
