The Customs of Gelao Nationality Township in Zheng Ping

Zheng Ping Gelao Township is a comprehensive self-help tourist scenic spot with Gelao culture and ethnic customs as the mainstay, supplemented by natural ecological landscape and Buddhist culture (Huineng, the sixth ancestor of Gelao). There are traditional houses, folk customs, traditional dishes and dry walls in the scenic spot.

Since the founding of New China for more than 50 years, the local administrative system has undergone several changes, but the Gelao nationality township in Zheng Ping has existed for a long time. The Gelao people in Zheng Ping in Zunyi County have a unique national culture, such as ancestor worship, lighting, tree worship in the third grade, wishing lanterns, singing yangxi before and after the Spring Festival, etc. Sacrifice the mountain on the third day of March, eat the new festival in July, cook wine festival on the ninth day of September, Gelao Festival in October, Niuwang Festival in December and Laba Festival. In order to develop these long-standing ethnic folk cultures, Zunyi City plans to make Zheng Ping Gelao Township a tourism demonstration site of Gelao Cultural Village.
