Basic overview of 1 BioWIN software

BioWIN simulation software was developed by Envirosim United Company of Canada in 1990s. After more than ten years of continuous development, it has been widely used in North America and Australia, and it is a standard engineering tool for local sewage treatment operation and design [7]. The new version of BioWIN software can not only reliably simulate the activated sludge process and anaerobic nitrification system for biological nitrogen and phosphorus removal in sewage treatment, but also simulate the fixed biofilm reactor and biological moving bed reactor. At present, BioWIN is rarely used in China. The core of BioWIN simulation software is ASDM comprehensive model, which describes 50 components (common heterotrophic bacteria, ammonia-oxidizing bacteria, nitrite-oxidizing bacteria, etc. ) and 80 physical, chemical and biological reaction processes acting on these components in sewage treatment. This model integrates three sets of activated sludge biological reaction models (ASM 1~3) of the International Water Association, and integrates the anaerobic nitrification model ADM, pH balance, gas transfer and chemical precipitation model. Because ASDM model adopts a single matrix structure [8], BioWIN can simulate the whole process of sewage treatment plant and track the changes of any model components or state variables in different unit processes. Meanwhile, BioWIN passed.

The latest research results and actual sewage treatment plant tests are summarized, and the default values of model parameters are given.

BioWIN can run on various operating systems, and the software interface is very friendly. Based on ASDM model, the software has established 30 process unit modules, such as various influent modules, reactors, sedimentation tanks, sludge treatment, etc. Users can quickly establish the process generalization model of the target sewage treatment plant by simply combining these modules.

2 BioWIN software application case

2. 1 research object

A sewage treatment plant in Beijing adopts A2/O (anaerobic-anoxic-aerobic) biological treatment process, with a designed treatment water volume of 600,000 m3/d, and the process flow is shown in figure 1. The biological treatment units run in parallel as 16 groups, each group contains anaerobic zone, anoxic zone, aerobic zone and 1 secondary sedimentation tank, in which the aerobic zone adopts PID closed-loop feedback system of "dissolved oxygen-valve opening" to control the dissolved oxygen concentration in the reaction tank in four stages. See table 1 for the volume and hydraulic retention time of each district. Because the inlet and outlet of sewage treatment process are completely mixed water, the simulated 1 treatment system can represent the operation of the whole plant.

According to the actual process of sewage treatment plant, a process generalization model as shown in Figure 2 is established. In this model, several CSTR reactors are used in series to characterize the thrust characteristics in actual reactors. On this basis, ASDM model, pH balance model and gas transmission model are selected as the mathematical models of biological reaction unit, and Vesilind modified model is selected as the mathematical model of secondary sedimentation tank.
