What kind of theater is there in Jianhu

Jianhu has Huaiju opera.

Jianhu Huaiju Opera, the fourth batch of municipal intangible cultural heritage representative project list of Yancheng City in the category of traditional drama. Jianhu Huaiju is based on the official language of Jianghuai (Jianhu dialect), taking into account the dialects of Huai'an and Yanfu as the stage language. The origin of Jianhu Huaiju is the "door sigh" and "incense play", so it still maintains the characteristics of its mother, mainly singing, and is famous for its singing work.

In terms of music, Jianhu Huaiju Opera has absorbed a lot of folk songs and ditties from northern Jiangsu Province in addition to the three main tunes to enrich itself. The gongs and drums of Huaiju Opera have their own specific gongs and drums, which are complete and rich in musical vocabulary, as well as rich in expressive power and rich in local flavor. The accompaniment is mainly folk music, with occasional Western music added to set the mood.

Classic repertoire of Jianhu Huaiju Opera

The main repertoire of Huaiju Opera includes Yang Jiagong (General Yang), Yue Fei (Yue Fei), Legend of the Flying Dragon (Flying Dragon), Sun and Moon (Sun and Moon), Anbang Dingguozhi (Anbang and Dingguo Zhizhi), Fengshenbang (Fengshen Beng), Seven Kingdoms (Seven Kingdoms), Meng Lijun (Meng Lijun), Zheng Qiaojiao (Zheng Qiaojiao), Qianlong (Qianlong Legend), Peng Gongcheng (Peng Gongcheng Case) and Shi Gongcheng (Shi Gongcheng Case), and so on.

Most of these plays were based on historical legends and folk tales, and some of them were fixed in popular performances and became the preserved repertoire of Huaiju opera later. Ben Tou plays appeared around the 1940s, with repertoires such as Three Daughters Robbing the Board and Shedding Wives to Judge Their Wives, and have continued to be performed.

From 1937 to 1987, there were thousands of Huaiju dramas, including "Reduced by the Light", "By the River of Fishing", "A Family", "Morning in the Harbor", "The Bowling Bowl", "The Soul of the Road", "Divorce", "The Red Lantern Photographs", and "The Strange Marriage", etc. These dramas represent the level of modern drama creation and performance of Huaiju dramas in different periods, and their influence is far-reaching.

Jiangsu Huaiju Opera Troupe's "Sun Flower", "A River Flows East" and "The Sound of Suona", Shanghai Huaiju Opera Troupe's "The Eldest Son in the Family", Yancheng Huaiju Opera Troupe's "The Ten Village Officials", and Jianhu Huaiju Opera Troupe's "Shaving and Barbering" are also popular with the audience.
