Don't go over deifying the Jews, tell you a real Israel

In China, stories and legends about the Jews have always been popular, and whenever the Jews are mentioned, people are full of envy and have come to the conclusion that: the Jews are the smartest people in the world; they have good relations with China; the country is often at war and is very insecure; and the Jews hold the majority of the world's wealth.

The books on the market about the Jews we can usually see are: "Talmudic Wisdom Book", "Jewish Sheepskin Circle", "Jewish Wisdom" and so on, and many people will be the Talmud series of books as a god.

In many WeChat circles or some inspirational articles about the Jews, we can see the following three basic stories:

1. When their children just understood, mothers would drop honey on the books and let their children to lick the honey on the books, the intention is to tell the children: the books are sweet.

2. When children born into Jewish families were growing up, the mothers in charge of their initiation almost always asked them to answer the question, "If one day your house is burned down and you are about to be robbed of all your possessions, what will you take with you and run for your life?"

The children, young and innocent, naturally thought of money as a good thing, for without it how could they have food, clothing and fun? There are also children who say that they want to run away with diamonds or other treasures, and that with them they will have nothing to worry about.

But these are not the answers the mothers are looking for. They go further and ask, "Do you know what a treasure is that has no shape, no color, and no smell?"

If the children could not answer, the mothers would say, "My son, it is not money or diamonds that you are taking away, but wisdom. For wisdom is something that no one can take away.

3. Since the establishment of the Nobel Prize, Jews*** have taken 20% of the Chemistry Prize, 25% of the Physics Prize, 27% of the Physiology and Medicine Prize, and 41% of the Economics Prize. In other top international science awards, the proportion is even higher, general: 38% of the U.S. National Science Award, 25% of the Kyoto Prize, mathematics: 27% of the Fields Prize, 38% of the Wolf Prize, information: 27% of the Turing Prize, 37% of the Shannon Prize, 42% of the Neumann Prize; in the non-scientific field, the Jews also took away 12% of the Nobel Prize for Literature, more than 1 / 3 of the Pulitzer Prize and more than 1/3 of the Oscars.

Because I work in a Jewish company, I have traveled to Israel many times, and in recent years I have been dealing with Jews, so I should know more or less about Jews and Israel. Many Chinese people like to ask me how is Israel? During this time, they will also mention the views and ideas that I listed above. I have discussed, observed and researched with many Jews on the above issues and ideas. I have found that there is a lot of unwarranted envy, reverence, and deification of the Israelis.

─ Regarding the Talmud, this system of books is the equivalent of the second Jewish Bible, why is it a series? It has more than 50 volumes and more than 2.5 million words. There is no complete translation in China, only some partial chapters of the translation, and just like that it is also sold in the market. In fact, now in Israel, only individual universities have such a specialty, mainly for those who aspire to engage in traditional education will go to learn, young people learn very few very few, some Israelis are very strange, asked me: why do you Chinese people want to learn this? It is also quite obscure and difficult to understand for Israelis, and young people should not read it.

─On reading: I have seen statistics that Jews read an average of 64 books a year. The first thing to recognize is that Jews do like to read, and whether you're in an airport, on an airplane, or on your day off, you'll always see a lot of people reading. But the average of 64 books, I am still skeptical, I have asked a lot of Israelis, but also work with them, some people even a year do not read much, perhaps because of the reason that mobile communication is too developed, low head people not only in China, the world is the same, the paper books read less and less people. The pace of work in Israel is very fast, and each family is 2-3 children, usually there is no time to take care of the children, where there is more time to read. If you have to find Jews who read a lot, it would be some of the Conservative Jews, some of whom specialize in missionary work, and do only two things in their lives: reading and missionary work.

─ On education: about 10% of the national income is spent on education every year. Currently, Israel has a population of about 8.3 million, of which about 6 million are Jewish and the rest are Arab. The pressure on Israelis to be students is quite high, far more than in China. One thing we ***know*** here is that Jews don't just value education, they value it quite a bit. Israel is famous not just for agriculture as we know it, but also for its abundance of lawyers, some of whom often switch to sales, service, etc. because they can't find work. University you want to graduate, is to work hard, before the third year, basically you do not want to earn much money in the spare time work, because the academic work is too heavy, thesis want to pass is not that easy, and undergraduate is far from enough, double degree, MBA is the basic paragraph. Foreign languages are taken quite seriously as well, which is different from us in this regard, as we cry for the elimination of English from the college entrance exams, which is a real bummer. Although Hebrew is the official language of Israel, most people master at least one foreign language, English is the first choice, of course, there are other small languages, such as Russian, Arabic.

─About the mother's place in Jewish education: many books emphasize the mother's place in education, and in fact, whether it is Israel or China, any one of these roles is indispensable in education. I asked some Jews and dripping honey on the books, they just laughed, at least their mothers did not do that, but the requirements on learning are strict. As you may not realize, the divorce rate in Israel is over 30%. Here I don't want to discuss what is the inevitable relationship between lesbian divorce and education of children, because in China, most families so-called for the sake of the children and do not want to divorce, saying that they are afraid of affecting the children's education. Another point: when divorcing in Israel, in general, lesbians will get more compensation, so many Israeli men after divorce, they are not very willing to remarry, and when they meet the right one, they stay together. A female colleague of mine has been living with her boyfriend for almost 20 years without a license, and according to her, she's very happy with her current life and doesn't want children. I also read an article last year that said Israelis don't hire nannies to take care of their children, maybe there are Israelis who maintain this view, but I know the situation is: many people need to hire a part-time job, because both people have to work, Israeli men don't retire until they are 67 years old, and many of them need to work just as much as their sons do, and parents rarely help their children take care of their children. At this point, they are envious of us Chinese, there are elderly people to help take care of children.

─About being the smartest people in the world: I threw this question to a lot of Jews, and not a single one of them admitted that they were the smartest in the world, and resented the claim. They think they are just more diligent, more attentive and more hardworking. Besides, there are a lot of stupid Jews, many of them can only work as basic operators in factories, and some of them can't adapt to a new job. Last year Israel had planned to recruit a number of construction workers from China, but due to strong opposition in the country, part of the plan was abandoned, you can see how much they need low-skilled labor positions. Let's not just look at their shiny side. Yes there are quite a few Jews who have won Nobel Prizes and whatnot, but they are just some of the best of the best and not representative of all Jews. Some Israelis even say, you Chinese are also very smart, the four great inventions and so on, think about it.

─ On the question of Jews holding the vast majority of the world's wealth: this is a question that at least the Israelis I know are quite disagreeable and resentful of. At least they think that life in Israel is quite stressful. And there is no official data to show that the Jews hold the majority of the world's wealth, and this is a very dangerous view for the Jews, and some of them think that it was because of the false belief that the Jews are smart that so many Jews were slaughtered in the Second World War. They also mention that there are a lot of rich people in China, and that the Chinese are now very rich and buying things all over the world, and I really don't know how to refute them. At least, the idea that most of us think it's honorable to be rich is not accepted by most Jews. Maybe they want to keep a low profile.

─ On security: Israel is not what we think of every day in the war, in addition to the southern Gaza area is relatively low security level, the other areas are still quite safe, every time I go to see are very peaceful scene, just every time to go to the security check is relatively strict, but not everyone imagined that. The toughness of the Israeli military is well recognized, yet this is the best protection for the population. In addition, Israel has a good social security system, and the people have access to good health care. The food is safe and healthy.

─About Innovation: We are usually very fond of the three main rules of life of the Jews: Wisdom, Happiness and Innovation. Israel's support for innovation is pretty big, and we can see that the NASDAQ-listed high-tech companies are #1 in the US, #2 in Israel, and #3 in China (which is not bad). You just have to have a good idea, and many incubators give you funding to make your idea a reality. In Israel's Haifa and Tel Aviv, three cities, the world's leading high-tech have R & D centers here, every day in the use of Israel's high-tech talents continue to innovate. It should be said that in this regard, they are really ahead of the curve. But the Israelis themselves will often say that their high-tech enterprises usually do not run a big, has been given to the acquisition, a good example is Facebook to 15 billion dollars to buy the Israeli local enterprises Whatup (our WeChat is the masterpiece, you all understand). We've had no shortage of small wits and small charms, and certainly a lot of innovation, just some of it against the grain.

─On the cost of living: the average cost of living in Israel is higher than ours, and their per capita income is at the level of a sub-developed country, with an average annual income of about $28,000. This year, due to inflation, house prices are also rising, the average price of the main city of 35,000-40,000 or so, the general area of 28,000-31,000 per square meter (but they are net square), daily food and use, slightly higher than ours, rent and other prices to be higher, the car and the price of gasoline than they have to be high, their car purchase to the purchase of the tax is generally about 40% of the price of the car, so in Israel you see most of the small rows of cars, and the price of gasoline. Most of the cars you see in Israel are small-displacement ordinary cars, and luxury cars are really rare.

─ On the character of the Jews and the feelings of the Chinese: I personally feel that many aspects of the Jews and us Chinese quite similar to speak of the principle of the very reason, do not speak of the principle of the change and very fast. Calculated, maintain a moderate mystery and low profile, basically no Israelis will invite you to his home to sit down, this is a habit and inherent tradition. As for people saying that Israelis feel good about the Chinese, I can only say maybe, at least not bad about us. But I see no special treatment, many Israelis do not understand China now, lack of confidence in Chinese products, many things in China and do not know

Of course, an article is not enough to depict all of Israel, but their life is really different from what we think, every country has his characteristics, if you really want to understand in depth, please come closer to it. If you really want to know more about the country, you should go there.
