How to measure central venous pressure

Central venous pressure

It is the pressure of superior vena cava and inferior vena cava entering the right atrium, which is measured by inserting a catheter into the superior vena cava or the right atrium. It reflects the right atrial pressure and is one of the main indexes for clinical observation of hemodynamics.

1. Insertion catheter is connected with infusion set and manometer through Y-tube or three-way piston. Zero point of manometer, supine position, flat axillary midline; In lateral position, the right side of the second intercostal space beside the sternum is flat.

Second, when measuring pressure, first fill the manometer with liquid, and then clamp the infusion set. When the water column of manometer drops to the height of stopping the liquid column, it is the central venous pressure, which is expressed by centimeter water column. After observation, turn off the manometer and turn on the infusion set to maintain intravenous infusion.
