Lv Opera

Lv Opera is a major local opera genre in Shandong Province, evolving from the folk rap art of Shandong qinshu. It originated in Shijia Village of Dongying District (belonging to Le'an County from 1138 to 1913, Guangrao County after 1914, Niizhuang District after the establishment of Dongying City in 1983, and belonging to Dongying District in July 1987), and was first performed in 1900, when it was called by the artists as "the (upper) make-up yangqin", while the people called it "the running qin". At that time, it was called the "make-up yangqin" by the artists, and the people called it "donkey play", "stroking play" or "small play".

In mid-October 2007, the first Lv Opera Culture and Art Festival was successfully held in Dongying City, Shandong Province, the hometown of Lv Opera.
