The "Cross-Strait Traditional Culture and China Folk Music (Fujian) Exchange Conference" ended in Xiamen yesterday. At noon yesterday, Hong Biling, member of the Standing Committee of the Municipal Party Committee and Minister of Propaganda Department, met with the Fujian delegation of the Chinese Conservatory of Music. This exchange meeting opened in Fuzhou on the 6th of this month and was jointly organized by Fujian Foreign Cultural Exchange Association, Fujian Cultural and Economic Exchange Center and Taiwan Province Chinese Music Society. The delegation visited Fuzhou, Putian, Quanzhou and Xiamen.

Chen Yugang, chairman of the Taiwan Province Chinese Music Society and director of the Institute of Performing Arts of Taiwan Province University of Arts, led the Fujian delegation of the Chinese Music Society to attend this exchange meeting. Members include Zheng, Dean of the School of Performing Arts of Tainan University of Arts, Shi Deyu, Dean of the School of Performing Arts of Taiwan Province University of Arts, Wei Dedong, a famous guzheng player, Tang Liangxing, Huang Guangyou and other famous experts and scholars. Hong Biling extended a warm welcome to the Fujian delegation of the Chinese Conservatory of Music. She said that the successful holding of the cross-strait folk music exchange meeting will further deepen the cultural exchanges and cooperation between Fujian and Taiwan, and will certainly have a positive impact on enhancing the national cultural identity of compatriots on both sides of the strait and enhancing nostalgia, affection and friendship.

Hong Biling also said that Xiamen, as the forefront of cross-strait exchanges, warmly welcomes Taiwan Province folk artists to visit Xiamen, perform and create, seek artistic inspiration from here, and leave outstanding works of art here, making Xiamen an important creative exchange base for China folk music and art, and making greater contributions to promoting cross-strait cultural exchanges.

Li Junsheng, Deputy Secretary-General of Fujian Association for Foreign Exchanges, said that this is a grand gathering of exchanges and cooperation between the music circles on both sides of the strait after the realization of the "three major links". The performances of folk musicians on both sides of the strait are widely celebrated, which shows that the two sides of the strait are not only connected in language, but also deeply connected in music. After five days of communication, at 2: 30pm yesterday, more than 30 folk music experts and performers from Taiwan Province Province returned to Taiwan Province Province by cruise from Wu Tong Wharf via Kinmen.
