The repertoire of Enshi dulcimer is concise and neat, and the theme is rich and colorful. The poems at the beginning and end of the track are written in the third person. There are also poems in character dialogues and story descriptions. Its basic structure is: four words, point out the theme; Four poems, introducing the outline of the content; White, enter the role narrative; Lyrics, dialogues and story development of different roles; Four poems, ending the explanation and pointing out the song to sing.
The lyrics of Enshi dulcimer are mainly composed of seven sentences (two, two, three) and inter-sentences (three, three, four or three, four, three), such as the "seven-sentence style" of water flowing over Jinshan;
Yuanyang weaves wings like flies,
The sea of clouds and the horizon are inseparable.
Diao people cut everything down,
Let's get together as soon as possible.
Another example is the "cross sentence pattern" in Xiuzhao:
My ears heard more drums and vibrations upstairs,
Call FuZiTong listen to my cloud:
Go to the king and get a white silk robe.
I gave it to Dong Cheng when I was repairing blood.
In addition to the two basic structural forms of "seven sentences" and "crossing sentences", there are also "five words" and "miscellaneous words" sentences. "Seven words" and "Ten words" are more common in banqiang Qupai, and five words are more common in ballads Qupai and folk songs.
The repertoire of Enshi dulcimer has a wide range of themes and rich contents. Foreign operas "Boya Father" and "Boya Breaking Qin"; The Tang Dynasty drama "Drunk Writing Scary Books" and so on; Song Dynasty dramas "East Window Revision" and "Li He Reply".
