Accompaniment Instruments of Hengyang Xiang Opera
The accompanying band of Xiang Opera is traditionally called the "Wenwu Six Field". There are four people in the martial arts field, playing drums, cymbals, gongs and small gongs; two people in the cultural field, playing erhu, yueqin, bamboo flute and suona, all commanded by the drummer. After the founding of the People's Republic of China, the cultural and military scenes have increased. Playing cavity to the Beijing hu (instead of the traditional erhu), Beijing erhu and Yueqin-based, known as the "three six pieces". The bamboo flute plays the lead role. The high cadence is played by the gaohu after a trial orchestral accompaniment. The low register is played by the bamboo flute. The percussion has a set of molded gongs and drums, divided into [long hammer], [hit the head], [slip], [pick skin] and so on, and each category has more than ten to twenty different names of the gongs and drums.
