What are the basic elements of Hertzberg's two-factor theory?

Two-factor theory - Herzberg . Herzberg discarded the traditional view:Satisfaction - (opposites) - dissatisfaction. Proposed a new view: satisfaction - no satisfaction - no dissatisfaction - dissatisfaction. The survey concluded that the factors that make workers feel satisfied are the nature and content of the work. And the factors that make them dissatisfied are the work environment or work relationship aspects. Herzberg called the previous factors motivational factors, the latter called health factors

(1) health factors: when such factors are improved, the workers' dissatisfaction will be eliminated, but the health factors do not play a positive role in motivating the workers. Including: corporate policy and administration, supervision, relations with superiors, relations with colleagues, work safety, personal life, working conditions, etc.

(2) motivational factors: these factors can play a significant role in motivation, when these factors do not have, will not cause great dissatisfaction of the workers. Including: a sense of accomplishment at work, being valued, promotion, the nature of the work itself, the possibility of personal development, responsibility. Conclusion:Motivational factors are work-centered, i.e., they are centered on satisfaction with the work itself, personal achievement at work, and promotion. Health factors, on the other hand, are related to the external environment of the work, and belong to the basic conditions to ensure the completion of the work.

Maslow's hierarchy of needs theory and Herzberg's two-factor theory have a great similarity, Maslow's high needs level that Herzberg's motivational factors. And the lower level of needs that must be met in order to sustain life is equivalent to the health care theory.
