Fengdan, also known as Tongling peony, Tongling Fengdan, belongs to Jiangnan species group, its root bark has analgesic, antipyretic, anti-allergic, anti-inflammatory, immunity and other medicinal uses, with thick roots, thick flesh, powder foot, fine wood heart, bright stars, long storage does not deteriorate, etc., and has been known as the four big famous medicines of Anhui Province with Paeonia lactiflora, chrysanthemum, Poria, is one of the 34 kinds of valuable Chinese medicinal herbs. The Dictionary of Traditional Chinese Medicines records that "the quality of dandelion produced by Phoenix Mountain in Tongling, Anhui Province is the best", so it is called Fengdan. 2006 April, the State General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine approved the implementation of the protection of geographical indications of the product Fengdan.
