Taiheiping drum is a single-sided drum. It is popular in Liaoning and Jilin and Heilongjiang, Inner Mongolia, Shaanxi, Gansu, Hebei, Anhui and other provinces and regions.

Taiheiping drum, about 30 centimeters in diameter, is shaped like a fan, the front of the drum, some painted yin and yang fish, symbolizing harmony and peace; some painted peony flowers, symbolizing wealth and happiness, the back of the drum is often written in the words "peace in the world," hence the name of the Taiheiping drum.

The Taiping drum is a one-sided drum, made of Koryo paper or sheepskin, cowhide, donkey skin and other materials for the drum surface; the lower end of the drum handle has a number of metal rings; mallet length of 30 centimeters or so, the end of the tie ribbon or tapestry spikes.

The Taiping drum dance is divided into two parts: dance and drumming, with dozens of drum beats and dance steps, as well as a variety of formation changes.

Yu Shenxiao said that during the Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty, when Hohhot built Suiyuan City (the area of the current New Town), the Eight Banners Army was transferred to the city for defense. The Eight Banners Army was mainly Manchus, but also Mongols and Han Chinese. Their arrival brought the Taiping drum dance, which was popular in the northeast, to Suiyuan City and gradually spread.
