What are the respective claims of China and India on the disputed border area between China and India?

In the eastern section: India advocates the "McMahon Line" privately divided by the British colonialists.

China advocates the "traditional customary line".

The McMahon Line was accepted by the local authorities of Tibet during the "Simla" talks, but successive central governments of China have never accepted it, nor have they signed any treaties, so it is illegal.

In 1959, the Chinese border guards crossed the McMahon Line, forming a line of confrontation between the two sides, called the "Line of Actual Control."

In 1960, China and Myanmar signed a border agreement, and the area south of Myanmar's McMahon Line was assigned to Myanmar.

The implication of signing the China Agreement is that China can accept India's McMahon Line.

But the Indians didn't see it.

After the Sino-Indian border war in 1962, the Chinese army retreated to 20 kilometers north of the McMahon Line.

In the middle section, it is the same as in the east section.

In the western sector, there is no McMahon Line, and China strives to protect the Aksai Chin area because there is a strategic highway passing through it.

China hopes to exchange the eastern section for the western section, but India does not agree.
