What do moths eat?
The food of moths is different in different periods. Moth larvae have chewing mouthparts, and most moth larvae mainly eat leaves of plants, such as trees, vegetables and flowers. A small number of moth larvae feed on crops and are often called pests. There are also a few predatory moth larvae that prey on aphids and scale insects.
Compared with the larval stage of moths, the moth food of adults has become different. Adult moths can't chew food without chewing mouthparts, but have long mouthparts like straws to absorb plant juices, such as nectar and tree juice. Others will suck pollen and dew and eat rice and flour; Other species will hide in plant tissues and eat mesophyll and stems. Very few moths are predatory and like to prey on aphids and scale insects.
