dragon dance

The Spring Festival, a festival that everyone is familiar with and loves, is a crystallization of our traditional culture in China, and it is the most lively. Speaking of the Spring Festival, we can't help but mention the dragon dance, which is a program of the Spring Festival and a very classic century-old tradition.

Dragon, a classic representative of China people, is said to be the rain god of China. Dragon dancing symbolizes the good wish of "good weather, peaceful country and safe people". So, how did the dragon dance come about? Legend has it that there is a Lingshan Mountain in Jinhua County, Zhejiang Province, and there is a stream called Lingxi at the foot of the mountain. People in Jinhua County use water from Lingxi to irrigate rice fields every day. One day, the county grandfather and his party patrolled the countryside and saw several big men carrying a big cage with a big snake in it. Seeing the snake's tearful face, the county grandfather was moved by compassion, so he bought the snake at a high price and fed it with raw meat. But this snake eats nothing but rice. Everyone says that this snake is a spirit snake. After a few years, Jinhua County was extremely hot and there was a drought. Even the water in Lingxi has dried up. A year has passed, there is no harvest in the fields, and the people are in dire straits. Suddenly, one day the snake spoke. He said, "I'm the dragon of Linxi. Just put me back in Lingshan, and it will rain. " County grandfather was ecstatic, and quickly let people put the serpent back in Lingxi. As expected, it rained heavily and lifted the drought. A few months later, in order to thank the serpent, people threw bags of rice into the water for sacrifice. When the jade emperor learned about it, he was furious. Sure enough, a few days later, the serpent came back. He said to the county grandfather, "Everyone threw rice into the water and ruined the food. In the future, you can only sacrifice with clear water, otherwise you will be killed. " County grandfather hurriedly called the whole county, old and young, so that all the people in the county did as the serpent said. But some people were still disobedient, so the serpent was cut in two and fell into Lingxi. The serpent's blood rained down from the sky. When the county magistrate saw it, his heart ached, so he buried the serpent's body beside Lingxi. Since then, in order to commemorate the serpent, people have to dance dragons every Spring Festival, hoping that the serpent can be resurrected.
