What does "Nadam" mean in Mongolian?

Nadam means entertainment and recreation in Mongolian. Nadam convention is an annual traditional grand meeting on the grassland, and it is also a happy festival for the Mongolian people. Its predecessor was the Mongolian "Sacrifice to Aobao". It is a competitive, recreational and sports event with unique national color created and handed down by Mongolian people in their long-term nomadic life. Nadam's traditional folk cultural activities have extensive mass and entertainment, broad and profound cultural connotations, and reflect Mongolian values and aesthetics. Nadamudo is held in Mazhuang, or Gacha (village), Sumu (district and township), or when grass and sheep are fattening in July and August in Qixian County.

Nadam has a long history. According to the inscription of Genghis Khan on the cliff, as early as 1225, after the failure of Genghis Khan's western expedition, a grand Nadam conference was held in the place of Buhasuqihai. In the following centuries, Nadam activities were held every time, celebrating military exploits, offering flags, gathering soldiers and civilians, gathering Union flags and paying homage to Aobao.

Mongolia is a martial nation. Genghis Khan attached great importance to cultivating people's courage, wit and tenacity, so he called riding, archery and wrestling "three arts for men" as the content of quality training for soldiers and people. At the Nadam convention, this "three arts for men" became the national style.

The main project of education.

Nadam convention is very grand. In the past, whenever the Nadam Convention was held on the grassland, herders in Fiona Fang, one or two hundred miles away, had to put on their holiday costumes, help the elderly and bring up the young, bring yurts and daily necessities, and ride horses from all directions to attend the conference. Vendors from far and near also come to open stores, sell daily necessities and buy livestock products.

After liberation, the Nadam convention in the city was not as attractive as it used to be, but the entry of modern culture made Nadam more spectacular, prosperous and colorful.

Wrestling is the most eye-catching event in Nadam convention.

Wrestler, Mongolian name is "Bukhqin". Most of them are burly boys (sometimes female wrestlers and small wrestlers are specially invited to compete).

Buheqin wore a "Zhuoduoge" inlaid with copper nails, fat wrestling pants, traditional burial boots and a red, blue and yellow headscarf. Put on this wrestling suit, no matter how hard your feet are, no matter how you tear, scratch, pull, hook and trip, you won't hurt people or tear your clothes.

At the beginning of the competition, several respected elders led the wrestlers to join the team. At this point, the field began to sing a magnificent wrestling song for the upcoming Buheqin.

At this time, Buheqin imitated the action of the eagle, danced the eagle dance, straightened his waist and chest, swung his arms up and down, and made the gesture of the eagle spreading its wings, symbolizing that the eagle jumped into the arena.

The two Bukhin met. They approached slowly, leaned forward, squinting, and shot frightening eyes. They turned along the wrestling field, looking for fighters with great vigilance, holding hands eagerly, suddenly attacking, suddenly dodging to one side, waiting for the opportunity, and suddenly fighting. As long as one move is successful, this wrestling can end in an instant. However, there are also differences. The two bucheens wrestled with each other, grabbed the short and light band with great strength, swung it and kept spinning, trying to make the other side lose balance and control, and suddenly knocked the other side to the ground. Unexpectedly, this short and light man made you swing your head. When you hit the ground, he immediately took root under his feet and stood firmly. Even when the other party was exhausted, he tripped with his foot and fell down to his powerful opponent.

Mongolian wrestling, regardless of grades, adopts the elimination system in turn, and finally decides the cloth helmet (champion) and the second cloth helmet (runner-up).

Horse racing is also a very attractive activity at the "Nadam" conference. Mongolians grew up on horseback and have special feelings for horses. Horse racing not only needs to train horses very skillfully and dexterously on weekdays, but also needs skilled and superb riding skills and tenacious and brave spirit.

During the competition, the riders wore Mongolian robes, high-heeled Mongolian boots, colorful scarves on their heads and ribbons around their waists. They are full of energy and heroism. Dozens of horses stood at the starting line, making the gun ring like an arrow that left the string. You chased me and rushed forward. The stadium suddenly boiled. When the first horse rushed to the finish line, people immediately sang beautiful hymns.

Nadam promoted the development of national sports and cultivated the spirit of tenacious struggle.
