Classification introduction of ULCSA certification

The American Safety Testing Laboratory Corporation (UL) was established.

During the period of 1890, a series of serious fires occurred in many cities in the United States, which were all attributed to the fires of electrical equipment and wires.

In order to avoid the recurrence of the tragedy, Mr. Williams Merrill founded the Underwriting Electrical Engineering Bureau in 1894, the predecessor of the Electrical Engineering Bureau of the National Fire Bureau. On March 24th of the same year, UL released its first test report with only two employees and test equipment worth $350.

190 1 year, the Engineering Bureau founded by Mr. Merrell was reorganized into Underwriters Laboratories Inc, and the testing field expanded beyond electronic motors.

UL listing label

This is one of the most commonly used UL tags. If the logo is attached to the product, it means that the product sample meets the safety requirements of UL. These requirements are mainly the safety standards published by UL itself. This type of mark usually appears in the following products: electrical appliances, computer equipment, stoves and heaters, fuses, power boards, smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, fire extinguishers and automatic sprinkler systems, personal floating equipment such as life jackets and lifebuoys, bullet-proof glass and thousands of other products.

C-UL listing label

This logo is suitable for products sold in the Canadian market. Evaluate products with this mark according to Canadian safety requirements. Canada's security requirements may be different from those of the United States. This sign can be seen on the following types of equipment: electrical and computer equipment, vending machines, household burglar alarm systems, lighting equipment and many other kinds of products.

C-UL American column name label

UL introduced this new listing mark at the beginning of 1998. It says it meets the requirements of the United States and Canada. The Canadian/American logo is optional. UL encourages manufacturers whose products are certified in the United States and Canada to use this new combination mark, but manufacturers can choose to continue to use the UL mark only applicable to the United States or Canada.

Grading mark

This logo appears on products that have been evaluated by UL. UL evaluated some special properties of the products marked with the logo. Some special properties here refer to properties suitable for use in a limited danger range or under limited or special conditions. Generally, products classified by UL belong to general building materials and industrial equipment. For example, the equipment types classified by UL are diving suits, fire doors, firemen's protective devices and industrial trucks.

C-UL classification mark

The grading mark is suitable for products sold in the Canadian market. This shows that UL has evaluated some dangerous situations or characteristics of products according to Canadian standards. For example, C-UL classified products include air filters, flame arresters, certain types of roof systems, etc.

C-UL American classification mark

UL introduced this new classification mark at the beginning of 1998. It says it meets the requirements of the United States and Canada. The Canadian/American logo is optional. UL encourages manufacturers whose products are certified in the United States and Canada to use this new combination mark, but manufacturers can choose to continue to use the UL mark only applicable to the United States or Canada.

Approved component marking and Canadian approved component marking.

Ordinary consumers rarely see these signs because they are used in parts, which are parts of some larger products or systems. These parts themselves cannot directly constitute a complete product, or their uses are limited. Parts certification marks can be seen in many products, including some switches, power supplies, printed circuit boards, some kinds of industrial control equipment and thousands of other products. Products intended to be sold in the Canadian market are labeled with approved parts with the letter "C".

Used to mark parts approved by Canada and the United States.

This is a new UL approved part mark, which came into effect on April 1998. According to the requirements of Canada and the United States, it can be used for UL certified parts. At first, UL did not intend to introduce the combined certification component logo, but introduced this new logo, because UL certificate users whose products are sold to Canada and the United States like the Canadian/American list and grading logo very much.

International EMC mark "

The products marked with this international "EMC- mark" meet the electromagnetic compatibility requirements of Europe, the United States, Japan, Australia or the above countries and regions. In the United States, some kinds of products cannot be sold without being proved to meet the electromagnetic compatibility requirements of the United States. Products requiring EMC testing include medical and dental equipment, computers, microwave ovens, televisions, radios, transmitters and wireless control devices.

EPH product logo

This UL mark appears on products evaluated according to environmental and public health standards. The "graded version" of the mark is used for products that meet ANSI/NSF standards and other food hygiene scope and requirements. Belonging to this product are: catering service equipment, meat and poultry factory equipment, drinking water additives. The "column name" version of the logo is usually used for products that meet the EPH safety standards formulated by UL itself.

Blue sanitary sign

It is optional and a supplement to the scoring mark.

On-site evaluation product marking

On-site evaluation product labels are applicable to products thoroughly evaluated by UL at the site of use, not in UL or the manufacturer's laboratory. If the product has been substantially modified after manufacturing, or there is no third-party mark on the product, the owner of the building, the management authority or anyone directly related to the product can ask UL to conduct on-site testing on a specific product. Products that meet the relevant safety requirements can be labeled with this on-site evaluation product that is not easy to fall off.

Management system registration mark

I can't see the logo of this UL registered company on the product. This means that the factory has passed the assessment conducted by UL according to the management system standards. By letting UL evaluate its management system procedures, it can be used to enhance the company's image and become an integral part of the company's marketing strategy. The standards adopted by UL in this respect are: ISO9000 series quality assurance standards; QS-9000 and TE supplementary standards, which are the quality standards formulated by the three major American automobile manufacturers for their suppliers; O 1400 1 covers the standards of environmental management system; AS9000, aerospace quality management system; TL9000, telecommunications quality management system; Social responsibility management system SA8000.

Marine sign

UL navigation marks appear on navigation products. The products bearing this mark have been evaluated according to the maritime safety standards published by UL and other applicable standards and specifications. When the products are exposed to some harsh shipping environments, such as vibration, impact, ignition protection, seawater intrusion and salt water corrosion, it will cause damage to cruise ships or yachts. The above requirements of the maritime safety standards published by UL and other applicable standards and specifications are aimed at these damages. The types of equipment suitable for UL maritime signs include alternators, batteries/chargers/energy converters, navigation lights, fuel tanks, filters and pumps.

Argon UL labeling

This logo is used in combination with the mandatory "S" logo of the Argentine National Bureau of Commerce. The "AR-UL" mark indicates that the product meets the requirements of the third stage of Argentine regulation 92/98. Most electrical and electronic products entering Argentina must be marked with "S" next to the sign of a recognized third-party certification body (such as UL Argentina).

Gas labeling

At present, UL only provides new gas list labels for gas appliances and equipment. The gas label indicates that the product meets the gas standards recognized by some countries, including UL, ANSI Z2 1/Z83 series and CSA/CGA standards. The gas label indicates that the product has been evaluated according to some reasonably foreseeable hazards, including those caused by gas and those caused by electricity.

Canadian gas mark

Gas equipment evaluated according to Canadian national standards will be authorized to use Canadian gas labels. Gas equipment evaluated according to Canadian and American standards will be authorized to use the joint logo of Canada and the United States.

UL performance verification mark

UL performance verification mark can be applied to listed communication cables that have been verified according to performance standards. The "performance standards" mentioned here can be UL grading plan, ISO/IEC11801and NEMA WC66. UL performance certification mark can also be used for listed optical cables that have been certified according to "Telcordia Specification". UL performance verification mark can also be applied to data transmission cables or optical cables that are verified only according to performance technical conditions. Verifying the performance mark indicates that the communication cable product has passed the demonstration of safety and performance standards and conforms to the industry performance standards and draft standards.

Energy certification mark and traditional UL listing or certification mark.

When the product is labeled with the energy certification mark and the traditional UL listing or approval mark, it means that the product not only meets the corresponding energy efficiency requirements of the United States and/or Canada, but also meets the UL listing or approval requirements.
