Is there a difference between high-speed railway and ordinary railway?

It is very different from the traditional railway. The train running on maglev railway uses the attraction and repulsion generated by electromagnetic system to lift the vehicle, so that the whole train is suspended on the railway, guided by electromagnetic force, and directly converted into propulsion by DC motor to push the train forward. Germany began to study the maglev train from 1968, and built a 32km long test line in Mamsland from 1983, and has completed the manned test. Other developed countries are also doing their own maglev railway research when the vehicle speed reaches 412km/h/h. At present, maglev railway has gradually entered the stage of practical development and research from exploratory basic research. After more than 30 years of research and experiments, countries have realized that it is a promising means of transportation. Maglev railway, where the feasibility study has been started, has Los Angeles-Las Vegas (450km), Montreal-Ottawa (193km) and Frankfurt-Paris (5 15km) in Europe. China will build the first demonstration line of maglev train in Shanghai Pudong Development Zone. Its feasibility study began in 2000, and the equipment supply and service contract was signed at the beginning of 200 1.

Shanghai Maglev Express Line starts from Longyang Road Station of Metro Line 2 in the west and ends at Pudong International Airport in the east. It will be built with German technology, with a total length of about 33km, a designed top speed of 430km/h and a one-way running time of 8min. This process is expected to be completed in early 2003. The process of Shanghai Maglev Express Line is not only a high-speed traffic line connecting Pudong International Airport and the urban area, but also a sightseeing line and a demonstration operation line to show high-tech achievements. When completed, it will greatly shorten the travel time between Pudong International Airport and Shanghai. With the development and operation of this railway, the gap between China's railway construction and the world's advanced level will be greatly shortened.
