Traditional Chinese medicine organs and meridians six - 2 hand yangming large intestine meridian

The large intestine in the abdomen around the empty ileum, is the conduction of the official, the main excretion of dross, the main Jin. Hand yangming meridian belongs to the large intestine, complex lung. Therefore, the large intestine and the lungs are mutually exclusive.

(1) Anatomy of the large intestine :The large intestine is the last part of the digestive tract. Its upper mouth is connected to the small intestine, and the junction is the appendage. The lower part is the large intestine (also called rectum), the lower opening of the large intestine is the anus, which is called pramen in Chinese medicine. These are the ancient anatomical understanding of the large intestine.

(2) Physiology of the large intestine: the physiological function of the large intestine, mainly in two aspects. First, the large intestine is the main transmission of dross. The large intestine is the conduction of the official, the main stool, that is to say, the large intestine to the small intestine from the dregs, change into feces, excretion to the outside of the body. That is why "Su Wen - Ling Lan Mysterious Canon" says: "The large intestine is the official of conduction, and changes come out of it." The reason why the large intestine is able to conduct dross and excrete feces is that it is completed under the action of drying.

What is the drying effect?

The drying effect refers to the heat of the large intestine, warming, drying the role of water and moisture, promoting and absorbing the water in the dregs of the small intestine to pass over the liquid part of the dregs, so that the dregs of the dregs of the formation of strips of feces. The drying action on the one hand enables the qi of the large intestine to push the feces downward, and on the other hand keeps the water-dampness in the large intestine from being too much, thus maintaining a certain amount of water-liquid in the large intestine to moisten the intestinal tract. If the drying effect is weakened, it can be manifested as the inability to promote the downward movement of feces and result in constipation. It can also be manifested as too much water in the large intestine, resulting in diarrhea. If the drying effect is too strong, it can be manifested as an increase in the number of stools due to excessive peristalsis of the large intestine. It can also be manifested as insufficient fluid in the large intestine due to excessive dryness and heat, so that the intestinal wall loses its smoothness and constipation is caused. Therefore, the normal drying effect is the key to maintain the normal function of the large intestine to transmit dregs. In addition, the normal or not of the large intestine to excrete stools and the relationship between the lungs and kidneys is also very close. Because the large intestine depends on yang to healthy transportation, and the yin of the large intestine is rooted in the warmth of kidney yang. At the same time, the kidney is also the main two yin, so the opening and closing of the anus is related to the prosperity of the kidney qi. In addition, the large intestine and the lungs are mutually exclusive, and the large intestine needs the power of lung qi to press the large intestine to excrete stools. Therefore, if you are suffering from a deficiency of kidney energy or lung energy, your bowel movements will be affected by this.

The second is that the large intestine is the main fluid. The large intestine has the role of regulating the intestinal fluid, through this regulation can maintain the normal shape of the stool and the smoothness of the intestinal wall, in order to maintain the normal activity of the large intestine. So there is a large intestine main Jin's saying.

(1) the circulation of the hand attached to the Ming Jing: the meridian of the large intestine is called the hand Yangming Jing. Hand Yangming meridian, from the end of the index finger Shangyang point place, along the inside of the index finger up through the first and second metacarpal bone of the part of the question, up into the wrist of the two tendons in the middle of the depression, and then along the front of the forearm, upward, into the outside of the elbow, and then along the outer edge of the outer arm to the shoulder end of the front edge of the two bones of americium along the front edge of the shoulder up to the cervical vertebrae, "the hands, feet, and three yin meridians meeting place". It then travels along the front edge of the shoulder crest to the cervical vertebrae where the "Three Yin Meridians" meet, and then downward to the lack of basin, where it connects with the lungs in the chest, and downward through the diaphragm to the large intestine.

One of its branches goes up the neck, through the cheeks, into the lower gums, and back around to the upper lip at the Shui Gou point. It crosses the left and right veins, with the left vein circulating to the right and the right vein circulating to the left, and distributes in the Yingxiang acupoints on both sides of the nostrils, where it intersects with the Foot Yangming meridian. (See figure)

2)Physiology of the Hand Yangming Meridian: The physiological function of the Hand Yangming Meridian includes two main aspects. On the one hand it plays the role of running the blood and qi of the large intestine. Because the Hand Yangming Meridian starts from the radial end of the index finger, its circulation goes down through the diaphragm and belongs to the large intestine, so it mainly runs the blood and qi of the large intestine. Therefore, "Ling Shu - Meridians and Vessels" has the saying that "Hand Yang Ming Meridian of the Large Intestine". On the other hand, it contacts and nourishes the large intestine and the tissues and organs closely related to the large intestine. Because the hand yangming meridian circulates in the upper limbs of the lateral anterior edge of the body, into the thoracic cavity after the lungs belong to the large intestine. Its branches travel to the neck, cheeks, lower teeth, nose and other parts of the body. Therefore, the large intestine is connected to the neck, teeth and other tissues and organs and parts of the body surface through the Hand Yangming Meridian. At the same time, these tissues and organs need to be moisturized and nourished by the qi and blood running through the Hand Yangming Meridian to maintain their positive physiological functions. If there is any abnormality in the Hand Yangming Meridian, it will affect the large intestine and its related tissues to become diseased. For example, if the meridian qi of the Hand Yangming Meridian is hot, lower toothache, sore throat and epistaxis will occur. The hand yangming meridian of the meridian qi operation out of the 熀郁阻, will lead to shoulder and upper limb lateral anterior pain.

In short, the Hand Yangming Meridian belongs to the large intestine and is mainly responsible for operating the blood and qi of the large intestine. It is the means by which the large intestine liaises with other tissues and organs and supplies nutrients. But it must also rely on the blood and qi of the lungs to fulfill its normal physiological functions.
