What is the difference between emerging landlords and aristocratic landlords in the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period?
They are all feudal landlords, but their origins are different: aristocratic landlords evolved from slave owners and nobles by changing the way of exploitation (rather than collecting land rent). Of course, they still maintain the aristocratic status of Qing, doctor and scholar, so we call them aristocratic landlords. Emerging landlords were not nobles originally, but civilians, but in this era of great economic and political changes, they became landlords by making meritorious deeds in war, getting rich in business (such as Gao Xian and Lv Buwei), getting rewards or buying land, so we call them emerging landlords. Emerging landlords don't have titles of nobility, so they can also get titles of nobility through meritorious service or purchase, but for the sake of distinction, historians still call them "emerging landlords".
