There are more than 30 types of theater that were and are popular in Hebei, of which 26 are native to Hebei. There are currently 200 professional troupes*** in the province, with about 15,000 practitioners. There are nearly 100 actors and actresses who have contributed to the art of Chinese opera or to the development of the genre in a significant and influential way.

Hebei Opera, also known as Jing Bang, Qinqiang and Shan-Shan Bang, is derived from Qinqiang and Shanxi Bang, which were introduced to Hebei in the Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty. It is popular in Hebei, Beijing, Tianjin, Inner Mongolia and the three northeastern provinces, with parts of Shandong and Henan also in circulation. The tone is high and exciting, and expresses generosity and sadness. It is in the form of a plate cadence, and the main instruments are the banhu and the flute. There are more than 500 traditional repertoires, including "Jinshui Bridge", "Du Shiniang", "Butterfly Cup" and "Teaching Children".

Appraisal Opera, is based on the counterpart of the Lianxian area of the Lotus Flower Tree, absorbing the Beijing, bang and shadow music and performance of the formation. In addition, the old tunes, silk strings, haha cavity, flat tunes, drop, chaotic bomb, western tunes, four strings, Huai tune, etc. are also popular in a certain area, Ding County Yangge, Longyao Yangge, Weixian Yangge, etc. are also popular with the masses. The Hengqi tune, the upper four tunes, the novel tune, etc., which were popular in the Baoding area, are now extinct.

Only the Tang Opera produced in 1959 won the praise of the audience with its novel and beautiful singing style and delicate and simple performance.
