The origin and lineage of oriental shorthair.
These two Thai breeds of cats were introduced to Britain in the19th century. However, from 1920 to 1930, siamese cats were more popular than oriental shorthair, and the latter did not attract the attention of breeding experts until 1950.
By crossing Siamese cats with European shorthair cats of different colors, breeding experts got oriental shorthair in chocolate, white (exotic white) and blue. By 1968, American breeding experts had begun to go all out to obtain an extreme oriental shorthair similar to today's Siamese cats, while the British at that time tended to be medium oriental shorthair. 1972 CFA approved the variety. 1994, CFA recognized Oriental long-haired cat, or noble cat. Oriental shorthair is not common.
