Zhaosu Racecourse in Yili Prefecture was formerly known as Zhaosu Soviet Racecourse, the largest military horse farm in China. Horse industry is a traditional dominant industry in Zhaosu Racecourse. In the 1970s, the famous Wanma Army Racecourse was built, which provided 50,200 excellent horses for the society and the army, and wrote a glorious page in the history of modern horse breeding in China.

In recent years, Zhaosu Racecourse has invested more than 5 million yuan to introduce world-class horses such as orlov, Russian Subu, Kuzta Nye, Ahajekin, British purebred horses, Arabs, New Kyrgyz, Quardt horses, Frisian horses, etc. to carry out riding cultivation.

At present, the breeding scale of thoroughbred horses has reached 6200. There are 6 thoroughbred horses in Zhaosu Racecourse, and dozens of new thoroughbred horses have been bred. There are six new Kyrgyz stallions and more than 200 new Kyrgyz horses. There are 4 stallions in Ahlden, and more than 60 Ahlden horses have been bred.
