What is Fuyang Festival?

Fuyang Festival begins on the first day of the lunar calendar every year and ends on the last day, lasting for one month. "Eating sheep in dog days" has a long history in Xuzhou, Jiangsu Province, which can be traced back to the Yao and Shun period. Since ancient times, Xuzhou folks have said that "a bowl of soup for a sheep does not require a doctor to prescribe a prescription".

Fuyang Festival began in the Yao and Shun era and has a history of more than 4,400 years. In the summer of 2000, the signboard of "Fuyang Culture Festival" was put up for the first time in Xiaoxian County under the jurisdiction of ancient Xuzhou, which received a positive response from the mutton restaurant in Xuhuai area, further confirming that Fuyang culture has a deep mass base in Xuhuai area.

Influenced by the culture of Fuyang Festival, China, Shanghai, Jiangsu, Shandong, Anhui, Ningxia, Hubei, Zhejiang and other places also had the custom of Fuyang Festival. Savoring the culture of Han and Yao and Shun, commemorating Peng Zu and Huyan, and having an outing are the basic themes of Fuyang Festival.
