What does Taikoo Li mean

Taikoo Li, Swire Properties' innovative and evolving development projects for Mainland China, include Taikoo Li Sanlitun in Beijing, Taikoo Li Sino-Ocean in Chengdu and Taikoo Li on the Bund in Shanghai.

1. Taikoo Li Sanlitun, Beijing

Taikoo Li Sanlitun, which opened in 2008, is Swire Properties' first commercial complex in China. Directed by Oval Partnership and designed by leading Japanese architect Kengo Kuma and other architects, the 19 low-density contemporary buildings are located in the north and south zones, with bold colors and irregular three-dimensional geometric shapes. The buildings in the South District highlight fashion and vitality, using bright and bold colors; the hutong-style planning of the four corridors creates a smooth and varied line of movement; and the intertwined and varied virtual and real spaces make people linger in a leisurely manner. The architecture of the North District embodies introverted luxury, with a simple diamond-shaped building appearance, reflecting the atmospheric dignity of the international brand; the overall layout of the open courtyard is inspired by Beijing's courtyard, presenting an open and inclusive cosmopolitan temperament.

2. Taikoo Li, Ocean Express, Chengdu

Taikoo Li, Ocean Express, Chengdu, is a joint venture between Swire Properties and Sino-Ocean Land, which is dedicated to reshaping the center of Chengdu. Adjacent to the historic Daci Temple and bordering the crowded Chunxi Road business district, Taikoo Li Chengdu is an open-plan, low-density, neighborhood-format shopping mall with an ultra-modern interpretation of traditional architectural styles, which is complemented by six preserved courtyards and buildings scattered throughout, as well as historic streets. International vision and innovative design concepts have revived Chengdu Center's cityscape while injecting new life into this traditional business district. A wide range of international fashion retail, food and beverage, and cultural brands will bring the dual experience of "playing fast" and "living slow" to Chengdu Center.

3. Taikoo Li on the Foreshore, Shanghai

Taikoo Li on the Foreshore has a total gross floor area of about 120,000 square meters, and adopts an open-plan, interlocking alleyway architectural layout, and for the first time ever, based on the continuation of the unique brand gene of Taikoo Li, it has created a block form on the rooftop by using a "two-level open space". In addition to continuing the unique brand DNA of Taikoo Li, it is the first time that a "double-decker open space" has been used to create a block form on the roof, with an 80-meter-long "Pleasant Bridge" running across the top, providing an unobstructed view of the Huangpu River. The project consists of buildings in the South Zone, North Zone and an 8,000 square meter Central Park. The South Zone is the "Stone Zone" and the North Zone is the "Wood Zone", where natural stone and wood are used in the fa?ades of the two zones, bringing together international fashion brands, healthy living and food and beverage concepts.
