What do Hindus like?
Six taboos

You should avoid handing things to local people with your left hand, because it is considered unclean.
Don't touch a child's head, because Indians regard it as sacred.
Slippers must be worn when entering religious temples and historical sites, and it is best to do as the Romans do.
When visiting Indian temples, it is best not to wear shorts and short skirts.
When you see a special religious ceremony, don't despise or criticize it, so as not to cause trouble.
Hindus are most taboo to eat vegetables on the same plate, and there are many vegetarians. Generally speaking, the higher the level, the fewer meat eaters; Only those with lower grades eat meat (mutton).
Question 2: What manners do Indians like? Indian customs and etiquette.
1. Cattle are regarded as sacred and inviolable in the eyes of Hindus, and no one can hurt them. Cattle walk freely in the street, which is the most attractive; When entering a Hindu temple, you must never wear clothes or ornaments made of cattle.
In India, if you give something to the other person with your left hand, the other person will think you are contemptuous or malicious. When handing in things, be sure to hand them in with your right hand, or use both hands. You can only eat with your right hand. Because Indians usually use their left hand when taking a bath and going to the toilet, they think it is not clean.
In India, shaking your head is a positive signal.
There are beggars standing on the Indian train. They do this for a living, and some even deliberately hurt themselves to gain sympathy. Most of their income will not be lower than that of farmers in the field, so it is recommended to be cautious.
Every station in India has a food stall that looks quite delicious, but please don't be confused by its appearance and fragrance. Almost everything is very spicy, except the taste of fruit is similar to that of China.
6. There are several taps on the platform of every station in India to indicate drinking water, and almost every Indian will stop to add water. But please don't follow the trend unless you think you have an iron stomach, because it's easy to have diarrhea.
7. Indian railway station inherited the British style. No one can check in at the entrance of the station. You can get in and out of the platform at will, but the ticket inspector on the bus will check it very closely. Once you catch the evasion ticket, you will be severely punished.
Indians are mainly distributed in India. India is a polite nation, and it is also a country where East and West cultures coexist. Some Indians greet foreigners in standard English, while others use traditional Buddhist gestures-put your hands together. When Hindus meet to say goodbye, they often put their hands together and greet each other. Bend down and touch the feet of the elders when saluting. Indians always put their hands in front of their faces when they put them together. This kind of greeting is more noble and elegant than shaking hands, giving people a feeling of "sage like type". What you must pay attention to is that you must not nod your head with your hands folded at the same time (foreigners often do this in India, which is easy to arouse the ridicule of local people), which will destroy the friendly atmosphere and seem a bit nondescript. In India, when welcoming a distinguished guest, the host will present a wreath and put it around the neck of the guest, and the wife will send her husband away from home. The highest etiquette is to touch the heels and kiss the feet. Nowadays, men and women in cities often shake hands when they meet, and hug when they show intimacy. In most places, it is common for men to shake hands when they meet or leave. Men should not shake hands with Indian women, but should put their hands together and bow gently. Men don't touch women and don't even talk to women alone in public. Women rarely appear in public. Indians think whistling is rude and impolite. They think it is inhuman to put children in the bathtub to bathe. Because stagnant water is stagnant water, children will feel uncomfortable and die after taking a shower. Indians like to talk about cultural achievements, Indian traditions, foreign affairs and the lives of foreigners. Indian women like to have a lucky mole in the middle of their foreheads. It has different colors and shapes, and has different meanings in different situations. It is a symbol of happiness and good luck. Indian men and women have the habit of wearing all kinds of decorations. Indians are very different in identity, have a hierarchy and attach great importance to identity. If a is higher than b, a and b cannot be equal, and the requirements are quite strict. In Mumbai, India, 60% people are vegetarians. Therefore, when entertaining Indian businessmen, we must confirm in advance whether the customs of the other party are vegetarians or not. In India, if you want to enter a Hindu temple, you must never wear anything made of cowhide. If you wear something made of cowhide, it will be considered a violation of the ban. Leather shoes, belts, belts, handbags and other cowhide products are not allowed to enter the temple gate. Indians should take off their shoes before entering temples or kitchens. They think wearing shoes is neither polite nor sacred. No matter men, women and children, they leave their shoes at the door and go in barefoot. Indians love tea, mostly black tea. It goes without saying that tea is also provided during all kinds of breaks, and it is necessary to entertain guests. When eating in an Indian home, guests can bring some fruits and sugar as gifts to their hosts, and also bring some gifts to their children. Many women don't chat with guests or eat with them. Indians like the numbers 3, 7 and 9. They think that red symbolizes life, vigor, vigor and enthusiasm, while blue symbolizes sincerity. Sunshine yellow means brilliance. Green symbolizes peace and hope. Purple means inner peace. Indians in Life and Clothing Colors ... >>
Question 3: Why do Indians choose Hinduism for their religious beliefs? First of all, Buddhism can beat Brahmanism to become the mainstream of Indian religion because of its characteristics of facing the public. However, after the 6th and 7th centuries, firstly, Buddhist philosophy gradually developed to the complicated and obscure scholasticism, and secondly, the popularity of esoteric religion (the mutual infiltration of Hinduism and Buddhism) made the mysterious and erotic factors more and more intense, and Buddhism gradually divorced from the original mass base.
Second, the defeated Brahmanism has been absorbing the organizational and ideological advantages of Buddhism for centuries. By the middle of the 8th century, the Indian philosophical genius Sankara was born. On the one hand, he absorbed the thoughts of Buddhist philosophers such as Dragon Tree, re-abstracted the thoughts of Hindu Vedanta, and developed a new school with strong logic.
Third, while Buddhism was declining, the North * * * from Central Asia invaded the most prosperous Buddhism in North India. During centuries of intermittent invasions, Buddhist monasteries and monks in northern India were in a miserable situation because they were regarded as pagans. However, Hinduism is deeply rooted in South India, and the influence of * * * has not yet reached. Although it was hit, it finally saved the straw. Buddhism is not so lucky. 1 1 century, * * * monks went to india tourism and found that Narendra Temple, the largest Buddhist center in India, had become a ruin. At this point, Buddhism was completely extinct in ancient India.
It was not until the19th century that Buddhism was reintroduced from Myanmar and Sri Lanka that Indian Buddhism was reborn.
Question 4: What are the taboos of Indians? The general taboo is: you can't face north and your feet face south when you sleep. It is said that Yan Luowang lives in the south; Avoid talking about snakes at night; Avoid pancakes on festive days; Babies should avoid looking in the mirror, otherwise they will become dumb; When the father is alive, the son should avoid wrapping himself in a headscarf and shaving his head; 3 and 13 are taboo numbers, because Shiva has three eyes, and the third eye is devastating. 13 is because there is 13 days of mourning after death; During pregnancy, women are forbidden to make clothes and take pictures; Never pass things with your left hand.
In terms of diet, Hindus do not eat beef, and believers do not eat pork. When invited to visit an Indian family, the hostess usually doesn't chat with the guests or have dinner together. When entertaining guests, Indians believe that the expenses should be paid by the rich.
Indians are very taboo to take things and pass things with their left hands, thinking that their left hands are dirty and low. They don't like people touching their children's heads. It is particularly noteworthy that when Indians express their agreement or affirmation, they do not shake their heads like us, but shake their heads, or tilt their heads slightly to the left first, and then immediately return to the original state to indicate "yes".
If you want to visit temples all over India, don't wear cowhide products, such as leather shoes, belts, belts, handbags, etc., and don't bring them into the temple gate, otherwise it will be regarded as a violation of the ban. Because in this Hindu country, believers worship cows and regard them as sacred objects. Cows can't be slaughtered, and they don't even want to see things made of cowhide. In India, take off your shoes before you walk into a temple or kitchen. Indians believe that wearing shoes is neither polite nor sacred. The conclusion is that Indians are forbidden to wear leather products (belts, watchbands, shoes and clothes), especially in holy places, because Hindus don't kill cows and pigs, and Jains don't have to kill animals or insects.
In India, when you enter a temple or a * * * temple, you should take off your shoes and cross the threshold, not step on it. When you enter the temple barefoot, you should wash your feet at the entrance in advance to show politeness.
Anyone who enters the * * * Hall is not allowed to wear shorts or sleeveless vests and is required to take off their shoes.
Anyone who enters a Sikh temple must wear a headscarf or hat first, and then take off his shoes before entering.
It is forbidden to smell or touch the flower buds displayed in the market, which will be rejected by people.
In India, whistling is forbidden, especially for women. In restaurants, shops and other service industries, if a liar whistles to greet a waiter, it will be regarded as a polite act that offends others' personality.
The head is the most sacred part of the Indian body, so tourists are not allowed to touch the head directly. Never pat an Indian child on the head. Indians think it will hurt children.
Don't praise children, even at a friend's house. Many Indians think that this kind of praise will attract the attention of the wicked.
Pay attention to business trips to India. Indians usually stop all kinds of business activities on holidays. When you talk to Indians, never talk about their wives and children. They like to talk about their ancient cultural achievements and contributions to human civilization, as well as foreign affairs and the lives of foreigners.
Question 5: Hindu etiquette Hinduism has never stipulated a unified liturgy equivalent to Christianity or Judaism. Devout Hindus recite the prescribed prayers in front of the humble altar provided by every Indian family every day. They may often pray or donate food and flowers to temples in India, which are looked after by people called priests everywhere. But there is no fixed rigid ceremony, no fixed priesthood or ministry, and there are no special religious festivals for people to worship, such as Christian Sunday, Jewish Sabbath or Friday. In religious ceremonies, people who are full-time clerks and reciters of the Vedas and narrative poems mainly written in Sanskrit are members of the highest Brahmin caste, and they are also the only executors of funerals, weddings, bar mitzvahs and prayers for generations. These are undoubtedly the functions of priests, but it is not required that the executors must be the intermediary between laity and God. All Hindu Brahmins are not priests. Although Hindu priests manage temples and accept offerings, they are far from being officially appointed positions like Christianity or Judaism. There are also many Hindu festivals, most of which are cultural festivals like religion, such as Diwali in autumn and Holi in spring. Diwali is one of the major religious festivals in India, lasting for five days, which is equivalent to the end of the current perpetual calendar 10. This festival is dedicated to the lucky goddess of wealth, and in Bengali, it is dedicated to the goddess Carly. Holi Festival, the Hindu Spring Festival, is the day to watch the sun in February and March in the solar calendar. This festival is full of carnival characteristics. People try to have fun regardless of caste, gender, social status and age. Hinduism also has an ancient tradition of pilgrimage to famous temples and holy places. If we look at festivals and pilgrimages in modern India, we will be deeply impressed by GeoffreyChaucer (about 1342 ~ 1400), one of the most outstanding writers and greatest poets before Shakespeare's time in England. In his long poem Canterbury Tales written in his later years, he described the scene of pilgrims riding horses from London to Canterbury City to worship the martyrs' shrine. In the era of translators, most people in Britain and the West in medieval Europe were full of religious ideas. In 200 1 year, 12 nude convention was held in Allahabad in the middle reaches of Ganges, attracting 30 million people. This is the largest riverside dharma meeting in India. It is held in four places in turn every three years, so every 12 is held in the same place. It is said that during the congress, people can bathe in the river and clean their bodies, minds and mouths. However, the secularization wave that spread all over Europe at the beginning of the Renaissance appeared in India today, which was impacted by urbanization, industrialization, technological revolution and the rise of nation-states. For more and more urban professional Indians, religion is not as important as other more secular opportunities. Although these people still account for only a minority of the total population, most of them are people who abandon caste or are indifferent to caste. Many leaders in modern India have adopted the concept of non-religion. Even Gandhi once declared against caste discrimination and openly opposed the harsh treatment of Dalits, who are the lowest people in India who have no rights and status except various surnames, that is, the so-called immigrants.
Question 6: What are the basic social etiquette of Indians? In the traditional greeting ceremony, Indians will put their hands together on their chest and say Namaste with a smile when they meet acquaintances and guests. This is a traditional greeting ceremony in India. Namaste is an auspicious and respectful word in Hindi. Indians always touch their feet when they meet the people they respect most, that is, they bend over to touch each other's feet and then touch their foreheads after meeting. This is the highest courtesy to show respect. Indian etiquette It is easier for modern city residents to shake hands when they meet. But be careful not to extend your left hand to shake hands with others, because Indians think your left hand is unclean (scooping water with your left hand to clean up excrement when going to the toilet), and shaking hands with your left hand is considered disrespectful and insulting. Indians usually lay a carpet in their homes. Guests and hosts sit cross-legged on the floor, that is, cross-legged, with their hands on their knees. Nowadays, city residents use sofas and chairs more, but many people still like to sit cross-legged on sofas. According to traditional customs, Hindu families will hold a haircut ceremony when boys reach the age of three. Priests, hairdressers and relatives and friends should be invited to attend the haircut ceremony. Parents carried their children into the painted hut and put them beside their parents. The ceremony was presided over by the priest, who drew a square next to the boy, drew a pattern with red sand and sprinkled rice. Then let the boy sit next to the picture and let the barber shave his head. Hindus don't shave all their hair, but keep a strand of it. Baby Naming Ceremony After the baby is born, parents will give the baby a beautiful, auspicious and pleasant name after careful deliberation and consideration. After the name is named, parents will hold a naming ceremony on the tenth day after the child is born. Before the ceremony, the room should be cleaned and the mother and baby should take a bath. After the religious ceremony, the baby's mother wrapped the baby in a clean cloth and gave it to the baby's father. The father put the child on his chest and told him that his father was naming him. Mother prayed to the sun. Then the father attached it to the baby's ear: "You are a believer in God, and your name is XX." At this time, the priests and relatives present will say: this is a beautiful name. Then the priest blessed the baby. The baby's parents entertained the priest and his relatives and friends for dinner before the crowd dispersed. In India, it is often seen that some men wear white coils on their wrists, which are sacred threads worn by high Hindu castes. According to the regulations, only three castes, namely Brahman, Khrushchev and Vishnu, have the right to wear holy tattoos, while Daotra and Da Park Jung Su are not allowed to wear holy tattoos. The sacred thread is formed by twisting three strands. Brahman boys wear cotton holy thread, Kashatri boys wear linen holy thread, and Bashi boys wear wool holy thread. The boy held a ceremony when he first put on the holy thread. Generally, brahmin priests recite scriptures and put sacred strings on boys. Boys' worship of teachers Hinduism divides people's life into four stages, also known as four travel periods, namely Sanskrit period, family period, forest period and seclusion period. Hindu boys also hold a ceremony to learn Buddhism from their teachers between the ages of 5 and 8. This is a ceremony for boys to worship religious instructors and leave home for religious training. At the beginning of the ceremony, parents should give the boy a bath and shave his head, and accept the clothes given by the teacher, including a fig leaf. The teacher recited the scriptures and gave the clothes to the boy who worshipped him. Then he gave a straw belt and a holy belt, and gave the boy hides, sticks and other things. After that, the teacher scooped up a piece of water and poured it into the boy's hand, symbolizing the teacher imparting knowledge to the students. Boys who worship teachers must pray to the sun before they can be accepted as their own students by teachers. The teacher recited the Sun Sutra in front of the students: This is reality, this is wisdom, this is light, and we have brilliant sunshine. It is the flame that ignites our intelligence. After the ceremony, the boy was sent to the tutor's home to live with him, learn the Vedas, the Upanishads and receive various discipline trainings. After the Sanskrit period (about 12 years) ended, he could return to China, live a secular life and start a family period. Indian communication taboos have many taboos in many parts of India. Villagers in Tamil Nadu are afraid of numbers and think that one, three and seven are unlucky. They try to avoid saying these figures in their daily lives. There are also many taboos in having children, such as thinking that having a fourth girl will lose everything. >>

Only a few Buddhists spread from China.
The largest religion in India is Hinduism. This is the fourth largest religion in the world.

The largest Catholic country in the world is Brazil.
The largest religious country in the world is Indonesia.
The largest Hindu country in the world is India.
Question 8: What color does India like or worship? Most Indian residents believe in Hinduism, followed by Christianity and Sikhism. In India, the moon is a symbol of all good things.
Indians should hand in English business cards when they meet. English is the business language of India. When the host meets the guests, he should cross his hands on his chest to say hello. I read: "Namaste" (Sanskrit: "nodding to you", now it means hello or blessing). When the younger generation salutes, they bend down and touch the feet of their elders to show their respect. Men can't shake hands with women. Many housewives are afraid of meeting strange men and don't contact outsiders easily. But if you invite men to social activities, you should invite them to come with your wife. Men and women in general relationships can't talk alone.
Indians shake their heads in agreement and nod their heads in disapproval. People scratch their ears to show regret; The summoner's action is to lower his palm to his finger, but he can't just use one finger; When pointing at people, use the whole palm, not one or two fingers.
When visiting a temple or family in India, you must take off your shoes when you enter the door. When welcoming distinguished guests, the host usually presents a wreath and puts it around the neck of the guests. The size and length of the wreath depend on the identity of the guests. The wreath for the distinguished guests is thick and long, exceeding the knee. The garland of ordinary guests only reaches the chest. When a wife sends her husband away from home, the highest etiquette is to kiss her heels and feet. When visiting a family in India, you can bring fruit and candy as gifts, or give some gifts to the host's children.
Take food, gifts and tea with your right hand, not with your left hand or hands. When eating, Hindus are most afraid to put food in the same container. Don't eat the food touched by others, even the teacups washed by others should be washed before use. Like to eat separately, pay attention to crisp dishes, generally do not like too salty taste, prefer spicy taste. The staple food is mainly rice, and I am also interested in cakes in pasta. Don't eat mushrooms, bamboo shoots and fungus. Hindus and Sikhs are forbidden to eat pork and beef. They generally don't drink, because drinking is against religious habits. But there is a habit of drinking tea, the way is "licking", that is, putting milk tea on a plate and licking it with your tongue. Indians don't like big meat, and more people eat vegetarian food. The higher the level, the less meat you eat. I like Cantonese food and Su food in China.
Taboo white, used to use lilies as souvenirs. They are afraid of meniscus and regard 1, 3 and 7 as unlucky numbers. When talking with Indians, we should avoid topics such as religious conflicts, relations with Pakistan, wages and gender relations.
In India, cattle are sacred, and eating beef and using cowhide products are taboo. Worship snakes and regard killing them as a violation of god. It is inhuman to avoid bathing children in a bathtub, which is considered as "stagnant water".
All ethnic groups in Thailand have their own traditional costumes. Nowadays, men in Thai cities usually wear dark suits and ties in formal social occasions. Women can wear national costumes or skirts in formal social occasions; You can wear all kinds of fashionable clothes in your daily life, but don't wear shorts in public.
Etiquette and manners
In Thailand, you have to take off your shoes when you enter a Buddhist temple, and you have to take off your shoes when you enter a local living room. They hate the habit of patting and beating in daily life and think it is impolite. The locals put up their thumbs to show reconciliation, thumbs down to show failure, and bent forefinger to show death.
Meeting etiquette
Generous, gentle and polite Thais don't shake hands when they meet, but cross their hands and say "Shawadika". This greeting with crossed hands is called "wai" in Thai. The way to do this is to put your hands on your chest, and your palms will merge but not fit, just like holding a piece of cotton in your palm. At this time, your hand is like a lotus in bud.
On different occasions, facing different people or things, the practice of "Wei" will be different. For example, when greeting peers, your fingertips should not be higher than your chin after your hands are crossed. When you salute your elders, you must bow your head and let your fingertips touch the tip of your nose. When showing respect to respected elders and other distinguished objects, raise your palm to your forehead. When Thai people meet monks or Buddha statues symbolizing Buddha, they will kneel, cross their hands and touch the ground with their foreheads. Generally speaking, when people of the same age "threaten" them, Thais will reciprocate with a "threatening" ceremony. But if the younger generation "threatens" the elder, the elder doesn't have to respond to the "threat", but only nods or smiles.
First, social customs.
The general characteristics of Indian social customs can be summarized in the following words:
Indian nationals have many "castes" and different religions have many regulations;
Ethnic complexity, multi-religion, overall stable personality;
Green auspiciousness is more preferred, and white regret is more taboo;
Be polite ... >>
Question 9: What animals do Indians like? In India, cows are worshipped as gods. This special status does have its historical evolution, and its development is closely related to the rise and fall of Hinduism in India. Moreover, Indians' behavior of caring for animals is also traceable in the history of human social development, which is similar to the taboo of primitive religion not killing animals at will.
In addition, monkeys are rampant in India, and animals such as elephants and snakes are protected.
Question 10: The four traditional rituals of Indian customs travel all over the world, and it is an eternal truth that when in Rome, do as the Romans do. Indians have four traditional rituals, namely, birth, funeral, marriage and worship. In addition, when traveling in India, you must know 10 India's special habits and six taboos to ensure that you have a good time and have a safe trip.
be born
Traditionally, India prefers boys to girls, because parents must prepare a generous dowry when their daughters get married. Without a dowry, her daughter can't marry an Indian or bathe in the "holy water" of the Ganges. This is indeed a huge burden for poor families.
When an Indian gives birth to a daughter, he will clap his hands to show that he has nothing. However, if it is a son, it is very different. People in the family will beat gongs to celebrate, indicating that in the future, sons can take a large dowry when they marry.
The way for Indians to celebrate the birth and safe growth of their children is to go to the temple for "Pujia ceremony", sing prayers, and then hold a dinner with relatives and friends.
After Indian children are born, their parents will find someone to read their divinations. Children's names are mostly taken from heroes or gods. Children's birthdays are especially valued because they can decide who they will marry in the future.
funeral
After the death of Hindus, the cremation ceremony was held at the altar by the river. After the death of Hindus, their families will wrap the bodies in yellow or white silk, and then put them on two bamboo stretchers and carry them to the crematorium in the form of * * *.
Traditionally, the task of carrying the deceased to the crematorium should be undertaken by family members, but now most people have given it to specialized personnel. In India, people who specialize in funeral affairs are regarded as untouchables with the lowest caste status.
Generally, funeral ceremonies are very simple, but richer families may invite musicians to play in front, and they will be * * * vast. Before cremation, the eldest son of the deceased must walk around the body three times with an oil lamp. When the cremation pyre is lit, the eldest son of the deceased must shave his hair, leaving only one in the back of his head, and then bathe himself in the river. After cremation, the ashes of the deceased will be swept into the river, which means that the soul has left the body and gained freedom.
wedding
Indian women are dressed in traditional costumes, and Indian wedding is the representative of social status and the most important ceremony in their lives. When Indian youth reach marriageable age, their parents will look for people with the same social class, language, region and background, and stars can cooperate.
Weddings in India are quite complicated. Before marriage, both parents will discuss the dowry through the priest who acts as a matchmaker. Only after the woman has promised the amount of dowry provided by both men and women can the two sides choose the auspicious day of the zodiac and start preparing for the wedding. The day before the wedding, the bride must follow the traditional make-up method, and start oiling, bathing, changing clothes, combing her hair, applying eyeliner and lip sand, and painting red on her feet, red on her forehead and black moles on her chin. Then, she will paint Hannah's pattern on her hands and feet with plant dyes, then spray perfume, wear jewelry and hair accessories, and finally dye her teeth black, chew betel nut and apply lipstick, which is considered a success.
On the wedding day, the groom came to the bride's house on a white horse. At this time, the woman's family has set up a fire altar, and relatives and friends of both sides pray around the fire altar in the auspicious mantra recited by the priest. After that, the bride walked to the altar surrounded by her companion, and the priest tied the bride's sari and the groom's scarf together, representing a long-term marriage.
An Indian wedding dinner was held at the bride's house. A couple sat at the wedding reception and received blessings from relatives and friends. On the night of the wedding, the groom spent the night at the bride's house and married the bride home the next day.
Liturgy (worship)
Puja is a Hindu ritual to worship God O, and it must be performed by a priest. During the ceremony, believers will decorate the statue and carry it out of the temple to celebrate, and offer flowers, coconuts, tika powder and other offerings. Finally, the priest held an oil lamp and performed "Alati" in front of the idol.
In the process of "Alati", believers gently cover the lamp in the priest's hand with their hands, and then touch it on their eyes to express their acceptance of the power given by God O.
Usually, after the worship ceremony, believers can get some sacrificial flowers, tika powder or water, which is called Prasad. So in India, as long as you see Indians worship from temples, almost all of them are painted with red or white powder on their foreheads.
Traditional dress
In India, people's religious belief, race, class and region can be seen from different costumes.
