"Hold it in your hand, and the cool wind hugs you", which is a description of the cooling capacity of the exquisite China fan. The history of China fans can be traced back to the Shang Dynasty more than 3000 years ago. When we talk about fans today, we usually refer to exquisite folding fans, which are said to have been introduced to China from Japan in the late Northern Song Dynasty.

If a famous artist painted this fan, it might be worth a lot of money. For example, a folding fan with the running script of the famous China painter Zhang Daqian was sold for HK$ 252,000. Many contemporary painters, such as Wu Changshuo, Qi Baishi and Xu Beihong, are called elite fan painters.

Today, there are more than 500 kinds of fans in China, among which the sandalwood fan in Suzhou, Jiangsu, the brocade fan in Hangzhou, Zhejiang, the huocai fan and the bamboo fan in Guangdong are called the four famous fans in China.
