How is acid rain formed?
Acid rain means that during the formation and falling of rain and snow, sulfur dioxide, nitrogen oxides and other substances in the air are absorbed and dissolved to form acidic precipitation with pH below 5.6.
The formation of acid rain is firstly that SO2 is dissolved in air and water in clouds to form H2SO4, which is easily oxidized into more acidic H2SO4, and H2SO4 falls to the ground with rain to form acid rain, so that the corresponding chemical equation can be written.
Formation mechanism of acid rain: industrial processes, such as metal smelting: some nonferrous metal ores are sulfide, copper, lead and zinc. In the process of reducing copper, lead and zinc sulfide ore to metal, a large amount of sulfur dioxide gas will escape, some of which will be recovered as sulfuric acid and some will enter the atmosphere.
