What is the custom of eating jiaozi on the solstice in winter?

My hometown is a coastal city in the north. In my hometown, the custom of winter solstice is actually the same as that of many northern areas, that is, you must eat jiaozi on winter solstice.

But it is different from the custom of eating jiaozi in winter in other northern cities. Jiaozi, which we eat in winter solstice, is usually a local specialty shrimp, and jiaozi, which is wrapped with three kinds of fresh fillings of pork and eggs. This is Spanish mackerel meat stuffing in our local sea. It is said that relying on mountains to eat mountains and relying on the sea to eat the sea may be the reason why we face the sea here.

In fact, in retrospect, I was happier when I was a child. On the day of winter solstice, our family sat around the hot kang and began to pack jiaozi together. Although I was only seven or eight years old at that time, I was already able to participate in it to catch jiaozi and help adults do what they could. The whole family packed jiaozi together, which not only reflected a deep affection, but also felt the beauty and happiness of life in the process, although there were snow flowers floating outside the window.
