What do you mean, full?
1. In order to describe the fullness of crops, the seeds of summer sowing crops such as wheat in northern China have begun to be full, but they are not yet mature, which is equivalent to the late stage of milk ripening, so they are called Xiaoman.
2. In order to describe the rainy situation. The word "full" is used to describe the amount of rain, and it is pointed out that if there is not enough water in the field when it is full, the ridge of the field may crack and even rice cannot be planted when it is planted. Agricultural proverbs in southern China give Xiaoman a new meaning: "Xiaoman is not satisfied with the broken ridge"; "Xiao is full of discontent, regardless of mango."

During Xiaoman Festival, people will put fish, incense sticks, white water and other items on the waterwheel for sacrifice. Sprinkle white water on the ground to keep it moist and not dry.
Busy meetings in summer
In some areas, summer parties were held during the Xiaoman period, that is, market transactions, including mules and horses, grain, farm tools, cloth, groceries and snacks. The main purpose is to exchange and buy production tools, buy and sell livestock, and make full preparations for the summer harvest. Just like the festival, the daughter and son-in-law go to her parents' home with gifts to express their condolences, mainly to greet their parents' preparations for the summer harvest and see if there is anything they need to help. The other is to tell my parents that there is still surplus food at home when the green and yellow are not picked up. I hope my parents can rest assured. After the summer harvest, the mother will also visit her daughter to see her work.

Silkworm sacrifice
Legend has it that Xiaoman solar term is the birthday of the silkworm god, so there are silkworm praying festivals in areas where silkworms are raised in Jiangsu and Zhejiang provinces.
Since ancient times, the raw materials of rural textiles are mainly cotton in the north and silk in the south. Silk is obtained by sericulture, so sericulture is very prosperous in southern rural areas of China, especially in Jiangsu and Zhejiang provinces.
Because silkworms are difficult to raise, people usually hold a festival to pray for silkworms in April to pray for a bumper harvest. Many places in the south have "Silkworm Mother Temple" and "Silkworm Temple". During the silkworm prayer festival, sericulture families will go to these temples to worship and provide rich dishes, drinks and so on. And make it look like a cocoon with flour, and then put the "cocoon" made of flour on it with a handful of straw, hoping to have a good harvest.
Quadrilateral gyro
Before and after Xiaoman, people often eat a kind of seasonal food called "Twisting", which means that everything goes well and everything is auspicious, so it is widely loved by ordinary people.
This "twist" is actually a kind of noodles. In Xiaoman period, wheat was immature, but full. People choose some full and hard grains, cut them off, take them out, fry them in a pot, and then grind them into noodles about an inch long with a stone mill with grinding teeth. Then add sesame sauce, minced garlic, shredded cucumber and other seasonings to these noodles, and make a delicious and unique "twist".
Youcha noodles
During Xiaoman period, there was also a northern seasonal snack called Youcha noodles. People also cut the ear of wheat with relatively large particles and grind it into flour. Stir-fry the flour until it is yellow with a small fire, then take it out, put oil in the pot, burn it until it smokes, and immediately pour it into the cooked flour and stir it evenly. Finally, stir-fry black sesame seeds and white sesame seeds, stir-fry walnut kernels, peel them, chop them into fine powder, and pour them into the fried melon seeds and stir them evenly.
